Oats arc less active. The sales are 38,000 bushels;
Unsound Western at 55c; State at 06c.

Bi tter.—ln anticipation of the close of canal
navigation, country holders have been dining the
week sending forward their Butter quite freely, and
as there is no European outlet, scarcely anything
going to California and only a moderate Southern
dcmand.our stock is accumulating, and most grades
have declined. Choice State firkins, however, has'
ruled quite steady under a good efty demand. We
notice eonsidcrable Canada Butter coining in and
sab s were effected at 40a42c per pails. Wg quote
Ohio and Western at 28a38c. Western Reserve 34a
3sc. Mate firkins 44aft0c; do Welsh tubs 43af>0, and
Orange co pails &sa6oc.
cheese —Has been very firm throughout the week,
the demand has been fair lor export and moderate
for house use. We still quote at 18al9‘ic for factor}.
Gal9c for farm dairies; 23a27c for English Dairy, ami
XttiJSc for Pineapple.
Cotton.—The demand has been fair and prices
generally are unchanged though at the close our
figures are largely maintained. We quote Low Mid
dling iit 4Sasoc and Middling 52ift3c. Sales for three
days about 11,000 bales. Receipts same period 16,701
bale-’.
Gold.—The market opened at 14fl 7 e , has strength
ened up a trifle and closes at 147.
