tenant Stackhoufe, on the charges exhibited
agairdl him by Lt. Col. Mitchell, having
found him guilty of the firtt, third, and fourth
charges—to wit :
“ nl. For unofficerike conducl on the eve
ning of the 29th of September last, whilst on
duty, in breaking open, and taking poftlfiffin
by military force, cf the houfc of Mr. Isom
Clay, on Tybcc I Hand.
2d. For difobediertee of orders and unoffi
cerlike conduct, in leaving his poll from the
morning of the 30th of September until his
detachment was relieved.
4th. Io; disobedience cf orders and uneffi
ci a! ik e con dud, on the eleventh infant, in
not delivering up his sword when arretted.”
And thereon having fen fenced him to re
ceive a re; rimar.d from the Major-General,
and to { ay a sum of one hundred and eighty
dollars, being equal to fix months p.iy when
in adltial service—the Major-General con
fines the sentence and udlblves the court.
Whilfc however, the Major-General is in
duced to confirm the he is impelled
to remark that it lias been more indulgent

will order it—or be confined if the arreftin
officer requires it.
It is hoped that the leniency of the sentence in
Mtiie caie ot Lieut. Stackhoule will never be
febed on by any officer on any future occasion.

The commanding officers of the respective
I regiments, and battalions who have had men in
lervice under the laid orders, will return their
mutter and pay rolls properly certified by
them to the executive department, as alfc,
(tuch contrails and vouchers of supplies as
rnay have been made, and entered into by

icon as possible : fending. a’fo, one copy of
each to the Maj. General, as a check on the
officer.
The cruifie of the Revenue Cutter of the
United Stares, which Capt. Putman, at the
request of his Excellency the Governor, and
with the consent of the collector of Savan
nah, offered for the protection of the coaft—
and of the hired armed Pilot Boat, Pilgrim,
capt. Webley, taken into the slate employ for
the lame purpose, being finifhed ; the Ma
jor Genera!, assures those officers of the sense
his Excellency thecom nander in chief, enter
tains of their promptness and vigilance in the
lervice, as wi 11 as that of Mr. Allen, m ite of
office Cutter, who commanded her during
the cruise.
The Maj. General acknowledges with great
fatisfaclion, the readiness with which his or
ders have been obeyed by the refpedive com
manding officers of the regin ents, and batta
lions on the sea coafl, and which has convin
ced him that hid an invasion taken place; the
country would have received am, le protection,
and the invaders have 1 eeri annihilated or
forced again to sea. The General acknow
ledges the affifl.ince he has received from liis
aids, Majors Maxwell and Charlton.

authority cf the fame, That there shall be eledl
by me Dourd of sire-masters, one manager and
an i one afliftant, to each and every engine,
wffich now is, or are, or which {hall, or may
hereafter be in this city, to serve for the term
oi one fro m and after their election,
and who (hall immediately after notice of
rneir elect.on, under this ordinance, enrol for
•ach engine in this city, not exceeding twelve
ode active fl ives, workers in the Paid city, to
be approved of by the fire matters, to affifl: in
w irk. ng die fm.aller engines, and not exceed
ing twenty four of the like (laves, to be ap
proved of as aforefaid, for the larger engines,
which managers and affiflants so to be eleSted,

ceeding feventy-five cents each, for the half

Yeflerday a court of admiralty was held,
pursuant to adjournment, for the trial of seve
ral persons for piracy, See. when Janes Ward
late commander of the schooner Mufkogee
Mekko, and Ricnard Ml Evoy, were convic
ted of being wilfully acceflary to carrying ofF
the said schooner; and after a trial of several
hours, the court pronounced sentence of death
and ordered their execution to take place on
Tuesday the 28th instant, at low-wite-r, mark,
between the parade and fort Charlotte, The
court then adjourned till Tuesday next, for
the trial of the other persons implicated.
September 21 ,
This day the high court of admiralty . met
agreeeable to adjournment, and proceeded on.
me trial or four persons charged w* th piracy,
belonging to the Muftmgee Mekko they were
ail four found guilty, and sentenced to death.
September 22.
Yesterday a court of admiral y was held,
purfant to adjournment-, for the trial of
fundary persons accused of piracy, &c. when
William Davis Willoughby, Abfalom S. Ver
non, Ja nes Wood ami Joan Allen, after a.

and were ordered for execution between the
