LETTERS FROM THE PEOPLE
HEKE IS A TEXAS DEMOCRAT
WHO HAS NOT BEEN FOOLED.
Dear Sir: As I am a constant
reader of the Jeffersonian, and since
I have never attempted to write yon
before, I desire to say I am very
much interested in most of the issues
which you discuss in the Jefferso
nian. I note that you take issue
with the trusted representatives of
the people on many of the so-called
reforms as demanded in the last
national Democratic platform. As a
matter of fact, what I am anxious to
know and what the great masses of
our people want to know is, are our
delegated Representatives in Con
gress keeping faith with the people,
or do they neglect reform legislation
tending to help the great masses of
our people. I note that you boldly
declare in the Jeffersonian that the
Democratic House didn’t pass up to
Mr. Wilson the same Tariff bill ■which
they put up to Mr. Taft. If not. I
would be pleased if you would set
forth the essential difference of the
two bills in the Jeffersonian. It
would be a matter of information to
many of us. Many of us Democrats
in grand old Texas are taught to be
lieve that the new Currency law will
prove a great blessing to our diversi
fied business interests.
Question. What is the main dif
ference in the new currency law and
the proposed Aldrich bill which the
Democrats could not endorse?
Coming back to the Tariff bill, my
impression is that farm implements
of all kinds, also wagons and bug
gies, in fact, all trust controlled pro
ducts were placed on the free list.
That was Mr. Bryan’s remedy years
ago, and I supposed it was made a
part of the Democratic platform.
Back in Cleveland’s administration I
bought a good oak wagon for $75,
today the same wagon cost S9O to
95. Cultivators cost under the Mc-
Kinley administration $25 to $35,
they cost the same today. Will some
of our smart politicians tell us why
its G of one and half dozen of an
other, tariff or no tariff. The truth
of the matter is politicians have been
feeding the farmers on buncoe for
4 0 years, and that’s about the length
of time it took to deliver the children
of Israel out of bondage. I think
the time has arrived in our country
when the farmer will quit using his
head for a bat-rack only. Our econo
mic and industrial conditions are
very favorable for the propogatioh of
Socialism. Its useless to denounce
Socialism. Its the natural outgrowth
caused by the industrial yoke about
the necks of the great masses of our
people. Let’s remove the cause and
all other conditions will adjust them
selves. I am with you for a govern
ment of the people, by the people,
and for all the people.
Texas. R. E. BARRON.
TRUTH ON THE MARCH HAS
BEEN CHANGED TO LIES
ON THE RUN!
Dear Sir: I have for some time
been enjoying immensely your arti
cles on the Frank case, but I think
your last issue should be preserved
for future reference, as it contains
some mighty Trutns for future
thought and discussion.
You will perhaps recall that about
the time the celebrated Willie Jack
ass Burns came here, Frank wrote
several articles for the press, the
slogan of which was—TRUTH IS ON
THE MARCH. Will you kindly tell
us in your next issue what became
of the Truth's Marching Orders, as
the Journal has failed to give us the
schedule of march, and thinkng you
might have some light on this ques
tion I am asking for the informa
tion.
I would not burden you with this
request, but the Jeffersonian is the

of the Joe Sartorists, when the com
bined Newspaperdom is on the job in

Very truly yours,

A GOOD MAN’S BLESSING IS BET
TER THAN GOLD.
Dear Mr. Watson: lam sending
you a list of 31 names, also P. O. or
der to pay for same, so this makes
62 subscribers I have sent you in
April and May, and wish it was
many more. It is easy to get sub
scribers for your two papers now
since you have taken up the defense
of poor little Mary Phagan, and you
made it so plain and simple, that no
one could help but see the guilt of
Leo Frank. The great bulk of the
people belong to what is called the
“common people,’’ and if that class
ever had a loyal and able friend and
helper, you are due that proud dis
tinction from them, and I think the
“common people” ought to protest
against the method of the “defense”
in trying to subvert the ends of jus
tice. God forbid that I should say
or do anything to bring punishment
on the innocent. But the conduct of
Burns and his allies has gone far
towards my making a conclusion as
to the guilt of Leo M. Frank, that
conduct has confirmed the conclusion
I. had reached. I see in the papers
that the hell cats have indicted you
again for showing them up in their
hellish business. But I can say to
them right now, -without any fear of
any successful contradiction that you
have gained more friends than you
can count by the hundreds in the
State of Georgia to what you had at
the time the little preacher voted to
return the first bill. So I guess they
found some other poor weak Protest
ants that wanted to kiss the Popes
sore foot. Now I know that every
free loving American that professes
to love free religion, free press and
free speech, should come to your de
fence, for I am persuaded to believe
that the ones that fail to come and
aid in this fight are really blind to
the best interest of our American
government. Strange it is, that some
so-called preachers will oppose you
in this noble fight for liberty. God
pity the man that would indict you
or the jury that would convict you
for trying to open the eyes of the
Protestants of this world. How far
they are from God and right, He
only knows. I encourage you to go
on till the last battle is fought and
the last victory is won. I will give
you those words of encouragement
from the Bible when Senmacherib,
King of Assyria, enme to fight against
Jerusalem, King Hezekiah said to his
men, be strong and courageous, be
not afraid nor dismayed, for the
King of Assyria nor for all the multi
tude that is with him. With him is
an arm of flesh, but with us is the
Lord our God, to help us and to fight
our battles. And the people rested
themselves upon the words of Heze
kiah, King of Judah, 2 Chronicles
32:7-§. Will close by saying God
bless you. and all that is dear to you.
And that the light may shine’bright
ly along the path that leads to the
golden fields of your wishes.
Your friend,
Georgia. R. J. McBRIDE.

A PLAIN GEORGIAN’S ELOQUENT
TRIBUTE TO A BROTHER
GEORGIAN.
Dear Sir: This mail brings you
the last of my cards received, a short
time since. Find check for $5.00,
and please mail me 10 more cards.
If those who love the truth will
give just a little time, no telling
the good it will do, the people w r ant
your writings, never saw anything
like it. Prejudice is giving way and
people who never read after you
now want your writings. The masses
are awakening to realize the situa
tion, and in spite of the opinions
expressed in the past, the Atlanta
Journal’s opinion that you was los
ing your mind, and the Constitution
that yours was a “great but mis
guided mind,” the people want your
paper and magazine.
Don’t know what Messrs. Gray
and Howell think now, as they have
gone in the ground-hog hole and
may be afraid to make a shadow;
but I do know’ many intelligent and
patriotic citizens in this section be
lieve and know you are the greatest,
living American statesman and pat
riot.
Thank God, Georgia has one man
with brain and courage to proclaim
and defend the Truth.
In your exposure of the teachings
of the Roman Catholic Hierarchy,
though at first it seemed to fall on
deaf ears, and the Journal and Con
stitution sympathizing with you in
your great misfortion, going crazy;
as a sentinel on the watch tower,
you proclaimed the truth, contending
for an open Bible and the religion of
our fathers.
Though the machinery of the law
was called to their aid and you were
honored and immortalized as Geor
gia’s first citizen, arrested for pub
lishing from the text-books of the
Roman Catholic Hierarchy, their
teachings; you have ceased not to
proclaim the truth.
I am recently informed that an
other bill has been found against
you for the same offence, it will not
close those lips, nor silence that pen.
In all seriousness we ask what
are our courts for? Is it possible
that there is an element among us
who think that they are machines to
be used by great organized forces
and money to punish the innocent
and clear the guilty? It has been
said, “Fools rush in where angels
fear to tread.” Surely we are get
ting on dangerous grounds.
When the blood of little Marv
Phagan, like that of Abel cried from
the earth for vengeance, justice,
though in that cold, humble little
