THE JEFFERSONIAN
ADAMSON PAILS TO STAND BY
HIS NOMINEE.
Carrollton, Ga., April 4. — News
has just been received here of the
rejection of the name of Hon. J. J.
Thomasson, editor and publisher of
the Carroll County Times, by the
Senate, as postmaster at Carrollton.
Editor Thomasson was nominated
for postmaster by Congressman W.
C. Adamson, the dean of the Georgia
delegation in Congress, having been
there twenty-two years. Certain
charges were preferred against Edi
tor Thomasson that he had failed to
support Hardwick, and Adamson,
upon this hearing, refused to insist
upon confirmation by the Georgia
Senators, although it was his home
town, and it lias been a time-honored
custom for the Congressman to name
all of the postmasters in their re
spective districts, all presidential
office, especially those of their home
town, without interference by tiie
Senators, but in this case Congress
man Adamson refused to stand by
his nominee, thus the nomination
was killed in the Senate.
