* ’ ‘ TRIDJIY MORJWJVG, May 31. Hy the* ship Qromo, 27 days from Glasgow we have received files of the Edinburg paper tip to the 26th April. The Glasgow Herald of the 26'h observes, Tlie dispatches from Vienna of the 11th instant, hold out strong expectations of peace in the East’. Ireland is stated to be quieter than formerly ; bill in some parts of it, particularly in the co inty of Clare, the population is threatened with all the lu*r ors of famine. T.he King’s hirrh day was celebrated with great pomp and ceremony in Glasgow. In keeping the peace, the Herald observes, our magistrates have on recent occasions, had a dif fic lit duty to perform ; on this as on former oc casions they tonic every precaution winch pru dence could dictate ; so that if it had been ne cessary they would have acted with the greatest promptitude; but the spirit of the times is much ! altered, and every thing went off with the great est harmony. There was hut idle enquiry for fine parcels, the prices of which may he reduced, the holders feeling disoosed to submit to lower rates than at our last. Besides the sales, large shipments were made—audit is estimated that no less than , 5000 bales were taken out of market. Flour. — We cannot notice the least variation in our flour market. The business lias been steady but not active. The stock of New-York flour is ; not large; there is a fair supply of Virginia—Bal timore and Philadelphia are scarce. Sugars • The import of the week has been large. The business of the we k remained ve ry inactive—and in tlie absence of sales it is dif ficult to give quotat'ons. Molasses. —The business ofthe week was ex extensive, and sales were made at tlie asking prices of the preceding week. The market may be considered as improved, and the article much more firm than our last. The following sales were made—About 280 hhds. Our very attentive and obliging corres -1 pandents at Laguira and Curaccas have forwarded us with their usual promptitude, a variety of papers, &c. by the Ranger ar riving at New-York. We hasten to lay before our readers the following: Halt Tel. La Gntjra, Apvil 22rf, 1822. Dispatches have been this moment re ceived from Coro, communicating the wel-| come intelligence that G-n. Morales, in at- 1 tempting the reduction of that neighbor-! hood, has been suddenly surprised by three divisions of the Patriot army, and is awkwardly placed in the centre of trian gle, which they fora. His return to Por* | to Cabello, or to any place of .embarkation, being thus intercepted, the.e can be little | doubt that his capture will precede the im jmediate capitulation of the last resting! ‘place of Spanish power on ;bis continent,j jnnd the conquest of that dreadful dungeon of Spanish despotism. You may safely predict t! e fall of Porto] Cabello, in two or three r.onihs; should this event be deferred, it will be imputable ;only to the inactivity, not to he impotence Jof the Colombian General, Americans | Imre who know the illegal capture and condemnation of the Caly; o, are itnpa jtieotly expecting soire nu.al force from IT. Slates, to ret luiin this property, or se cure indemnification by repi is'iis. * April IHh, 1822. The Ranger is to sail to-df.y, and i hope she may mi fallow the Calypso to Porto Cabello, as a prir.e. By t! e Calypso I wrote you, and the Spaniat !s have my letters, or else they were diddered to the •‘Genii of the deep.” The Young Brutus will sail for Ba'tnnore about'he 10th May General Paez has been contracting the lines upon Porto Cabello, : nd when the Colombian squadron,of 8 vessels, blockade the port, (which will fake place iu 6 or 8 davs,) s successful attack m <y be made to reduce this formidable fertreis. Caraccas, April 2.3, 1523. Subsequently, however, to t >e. last num ber, we have teceived intelligence that, Cumaribo, near the (M* of C no, has been occupied bv Col. Pinango. On the 10th inst. The ’ objects of thin 2 xpedition were, no doubt, to cecrii't the t _ anisli force, and prevent the stret.ythening of Puerto Cabello; bot,| above all. to support the hopes and spirits’ of the royalist party in Colombia, by npen.j ing a communication nidi tlie interior, and crearinga war of Guerillas similar to that; which had been attempted by Alejo, and Tamos. To counteract these attempts the Patriot forces were put in movement from Maracaybo and Valencia. On the 28;h Jan. fieri. What Mo rales was unable to effect with 12,000 ve terans, wili scarcely be attempted by the contemptible Morales with 1500 troops, dispirited and beaten on ail sides, by tlie same troops who defeated the lasi Spanish army on the field of Carabob •.
