American Stocks were easier because
of a series of malicious articles in the

protests had been sent into the govern

disastrous war. with the United States.
An uneasy feeling continued to prevail.
The Allies have retired to the former
position, nnd were expecting an attack
-from the Russians, but it is improbable
that any further operations will be at
tempted this season.
