EXTRACT
From thn Report of the Mmachnsetls Chari

The nest instrument in importance, is the Piano ;
and here, the Committee felt the embarrassment of
deciding between the merits of instruments, so near
ly erjr<al,in some cn-cs, that the most careful mqui
siti ill, Fed truly to doubt; and the longer they examined,
tiref.rlher were they from .lecissi,.,,. There is one
manufacturer however, (No. 755.) whose instru
ments trike precedence of all rhe others, with so un
questionable a preeminence, that lire Committee, felt
not tho slightest hesitation in recommending the a
ward, to him. of a Gold Medal. And this thev did,
on two grounds; not only f-r the decided superiority
of Ins Square Pianos, but for the uncommon merit of
his Grand Pianos, which, it is no exaggor bon to sav
may he fearlessly placed in competition with the best
that Europe can produce. Mr. Chtckeriiig’s Pianos,,
of both kinds, are of so dchglitf.il a tone, so de'icale
aetion, and so firm and enduring construction, that
they need no mrdahl to give them celebrity; and it
might seem superfluous, to give encouragement to
one, who baa already received"the highest commen
dations. But the Committee were appointed, not
simply.l>give ene.oursgpment to any person, but to
decide accord ng to their ability, upon the relative
rank of the intrinaents presented to them; and it
wowld be’ nothing short of glaring injustice to lav
aside thee aims of the instruments acknowledged so
be the bevt. because Ihre maker of them bad always
produced th ) best. So much the more does he de
serve the highest reward, for his skill, enterprise,
and industry ; especially when he ir seen to go on,
diligently and steadily, in the course of improvement,
and his competitors find, as tfoy arriveat one point,
where he haa ioirg stood before them, that he has
reached another yet, and lliak, w (hour mmrh more
titan common speed, they cannot overtake one, wln>
unites, with all their ambition, a preservanee, which
may beeqtiaileJ but not surpassed. Mr. Chickering's
manufacture is an honor to the community, in the
opinion ofthe Committee; and they would omit no
proper opportunity of bearing testimony to an excel

PILLS.
THE fact is well known, that Brasdbeth's
Pii.t.B are a certain cure in every form of dis
ease, alMiaving the same root, which is impurity of
the circulating fluid, the nt.ooo.
In a period of little more than ten years in the
UnuedStales, they have restored to perfect lleakh
and enjoyment over four hundred thousand’ person,
who ar •. given over as insurable by Physicians of
the first ranlj and a it- ndtng, and in many rases when
every otherrdttitfd*had been resorted coin vain.
The great secret is to have the medicine by yot
when you are firswtecked with sickness: one dose
then will have more good (fleet than twenty, if you
put it off until disease has enfeebled Hie bodily pow
ers ; therefore every individual who considers health
a blessing, should always keep a box of BYandreth'e
Vegetable Universal Pills. where they can be sure to
lay their hands onthont|When wanted. Twenty-five
ecu's cannot possibly be befber disposed of. A val
uable life may be saved, or a long: fit of sickness pre
