    DAILY BtllST.
Monday Morning, June 8, 1837.
To the Hnngry Poor.
It will be seen, by reference to the ad
vertisement of Messrs. Giittenger &
Barschall, in our advertising columns,
that after regular market hours they will
sell beef at greatly reduced prices from
those demanded during market hours.—
This arrangement, they inform us, is for
the accommodation of the poor people of
the city, who are not able to pay the high
prices now asked for all kinds of meat,
and is an act of generosity on their part
worthy of commendation.
Rail Road Connection.
We publish another communication
from “Kobs” to-day upon the subject of
Rail Road connection. As it is probable
that this question will, at no very distant
day, be brought practically before our
citizens for their action, it is very proper
that it should be freely and fully dis
cussed, in a spirit of good feeling, fair
ness and candor, concerning vitally as it
does the welfare and prosperity of our
city. Our columns are open to commu
nications both pro and con, when couched
in terms of fair and friendly discussion,
and within the bounds of reasonable
length.
Napoleon at Waterloo.
Count de Flahaut, one of Napoleon’s
Aids at Waterloo, has just written a let
ter in eply to the account of that battle
by Marshal Marmont. He pronounces
the statement that the Emperor was too
far off, during the engagement, to make
the necessary modification in his piuns,
to be uttery untrue ; also untrue is the
statement that he finally fled at a gallop
from the field, in terror. So far was he
from discovering any personal fears, that
he several times fell asleep while they
walked, not galloped, along, as Marmont
falsely said.
A Famona Horse.
Cossack, the horse Captain Nolan rode
when he was killed at Balaklava, (in the
famous charge) is now the property of a
gentleman of Cincinnati, and arrived in
that city last week. He is a grey Arab
stallion, six years old, and fourteen hands
high. His groom, who came with him, is
Edward Sleeper, one of the eleven survi
vors of a regiment of 900 British soldiers
who landed in Gallipoli in February, ’54.
He was at Alma, Balaklava, lukermann,
and the siege of Sebastopol, and looks as
if he was made of oak, lignumvitm and
iron.
Veteran Schoolmaster.
The man who taught Fenniraore Coop
er his “letters” was in Buffalo a few days
since. He is now turned ninety years, but
walks flrrnly and vyth agility. He grad
uated at Union College, and emigrated to
Cooperstown, Oswego county, N. Y., in
its early history, where he followed the
vocation of school teacher.

who often humbug the people with a pack of cards.

Infants, Hemorrhage, Abscess, Stiff Necks, Broken
Breast, Chilblains, Tetter, Shingles, Frosted Feet,
Fever aud Ague, Chupped Hands, or any diseases
that are sore and painful, is the only article ever
brought before the public that will do its work
perfectly iu from three to twenty minutes—has
been used by thousands and pronounced to be the
best remedy ever discovered.
This Oil acts on the system w ith electricity—i*
of pure vegetable preparation. Not the slightest
danger of applying it outwardly or inwardly. It
at once gives a permanent cure—in most cases
from ten to twenty minutes.
The best physiologists of Europe have discovered
that all organic derangement of the animal system
is the effect of an obstruction of the pbysico-electric
fluid in the organ diseased. A skillful application
of this Oil puts in immediate motion the nerve
fluid, and the cure is at once accomplished. No
bleedings—no vomiting, purging or blistering is
resorted to.
None genuine without the signature of Prof. C.
De Grath. Labels signed in writing.

There are numerous imitations sprung up on the
reputation that my article has acquired. The
public must beware. They are worthless.
