DAI L Y B U Wednesday Morning, June 10,1897. All the Honesty. The Atlanta American says that we were correct in the opinion we expressed a few days since, as to the ends and aims of political parties, so far as the Demo cratic party is concerned, but says the spoils “are neither the ‘end’ nor ‘aim’ of the American party,” but intimates pret ty clearly that “a reasonable share of the spoils would not be seriously objec tionable even to the American party.” Now, don’t, Col.—you know that Govern ment pap is particularly palatable to the palates of all political parties. Own up, now, —if there were no spoils in the case would there be the same scramble after office that there is now? Wouldn’t the office have to seek the man and not the man the office. Col., it may do to talk to the debutants and “nips” upon the politi cal boards about the honesty and patriot ism of political parties—it is breath wasted on old stagers like ourselves. Special Notice—Citizens’ Meeting. At the request of a very lurge portion of the citizens of Columbus, expressed to me through a petition, I hereby call a meeting of the citizens, to be held at the Temperance Ilall. on WEDNES DAY EVENING NEXT, the 10th instant, at eight o’clock, P. M., for the purpose of taking into con si. eration the importance of granting a junction to the various Kail Hoads now converging in the city. F. G. WILKINS. Mayor. AS* The following, from the pen of ex-Senator Hannigan, of Indiana, will he appreciated by all: “We cannot refrain from calling the attention of oijr readers to the “ Hair Restorative” of Prof. 0. J. Wuyd. it w in i, e S ern that he has numerous certificates from persona of the highest character, to the merits of his Restorative. From positive knowledge we are also enabled to say that it is in every sense what it professes to he, aud we do not hesitate to pronounce it the finest preparation for the head and hair which has, so far, been devised by human ingenuity. We have seen it arrest threatened baldness, and restore to the head its original profusion of natural and glossy hair, and when the latter has been prematurely tinged with gray, we have seen it, like magic, restore the colors of youth and health. The distinguishing property of this, we might truly say, miraculous “ Restora tive” is, that it gives to the person who uses it tin same head of hair they wore in youth, tlius acting in strict compliance with the first and greatest ol ail toilet makers—Nature. No one who has used it will hesitate to unite with us in this testimony to its peculiar merit.” —Covington ( Ind .) /fetple’s Friend. S KIMBROUGH, Ist Sgt. BIRD FOR SALE. A SPLENDID MOCKING BIRD is offered for sa'e. Call at Mr. McCaliey’s Store, ~n the corner of Oglethorpe and Baldwin streets. June 6-ts THE HUNGRY POOR. I NOTICE in the Sun of yesterday morning, that Messrs. Giitinger 4 Barschall, in a spirit ol generosity and philanthropy, (heaven suve tin mark!) had determined to reduce the price of B'-ei one half, after market hours, and that this ar rangement was for the benefit of the poor peoph who are not able to pay full price. I will do a great deal better than that—l will give the hungry poor good pieces of beef at any time, free of cost, when 1 am satisfied that they are really needy and deserving, but I will not sell them refuse or rubbish beef a’ any price. Now gentlemen, if you wish to be generous, be so, and don't go at it In halves. I understand, however, that one of the firm has stated that the reduction in the price af ter market hours, was for tho purpose of competing with the peddlers, and their extraordinary gene rosity therefore is over the left—nothing but a disposition to monopolize.
