DAILY SUN. Friday Morning, January 1, 1858. New Advertisements. We would call attention to the adver tisement of Messrs. Bedell & Weems, in another column. See tho advertisement of J. Williams, who has lot a of fine Vermont horses at Ivey, Wilkins & Co.’s Stables. It will be seen, by reference to our ad vertising columns, that Dr. R. A. Waro has associated with himself, in Ihe Drug business, his Son, and that hereafter the business will be transacted under the name of 11. A. Ware & Son. Parade of Firemen. The different Fire Companies of the city had a grand turn out yesterday, for tho purpose of testing the capacities of their respective Engines. Tho palm was carried off by Company No. 3, I. G. Strupper, Foreman, and tho distance tho water was thrown was 170 feet. The other two Companies performed admira bly, but the superiority of this new En gino over the old ones, placed competi tion almost out of the question. No. 3is a beautiful Engine, and of superior capa cities, and differing from the old in many important particulars. Mr. Strupper has been for several years pressing the claims of this description of Engines over others, upon the consideration of tho City Fath ers, and, by his indomitable energy in that direction, at length induced them to purchase one, and seldom, we think, has money been move profitably invested for the protection of the property of our citi zens.
