In New Orle.ua. New Orleans, June 6, via Now York. On {Saturday morning a fresh excitement sprang up in this city. The Amerioau party had u meeting, when Col. Henry, late of tho Nicaraguan army, offered to lead tho charge against tho Vigilante. At noon the Vigilants had 1,600 men enrolled. J. I’. White, who furnished them with cotton bales, has been assault* ed and dangerously wounded. Further troubles were approhended. Utah Intelligence. St. Louis, Juno o.—lt is reported here that Capt. Marcy’s train has been cut oft by tho Mormons. Tho reported expulsion of Gov. Cum ming from Salt Lake City is discredited at Fort Leavenworth. Trouble, llrowing In Washington. Washington, June o.— Great disorder and probable bloodshed are anticipated here to-morrow, on tho occasion of the municipal election. A large number of muskets and a quantity of ammunition were seized by the Police last night, sup posed to belong to one of tho political parties. * ■ From Washington. Washington, Juno ‘2, 1858. It is reported that a telegraph dispatch lias been received at the British Legation, informing them t lint important dispatches by mail were on the way of a satisfactory and pacific character with reference to tho affair of the cruisers. No change will be made in the French mission for the present. The Legislature of Virginia lias memorialized tho Presi dent to permit Mr. Mason to remain. Mr. Slidell will probably succeed him after the close of this Congress. John P. Stockton, of Now Jersey, lias been appointed Minister to Switzerland. Joseph R. Chandler, of Pennsylvania, will probably go to Home. J. P. O’Sulli van, of California, has been appointed Consul at Siugapore, and J. N. Heine, of Georgia, Consul of Turks Island. The applicants for tho mission to Pa raguay are already very numerous. The names of Mr. Fitzpatrick, of Florida; Mr. Harris, late of the Union; Mr. Che son anti Gen. Burges, of Rhode Island, are strongly pressed. The State Department has not received any oflicial intelligence by last arrived mail from Nicaragua, from our Minister Lamar, beyond what has been published in the Herald. The department expeoted more full and important dispatches, and supposed the cause of not receiving them was the sickness of General Lamar. It is evident, from letters received here of latest date from the headquarters of the army in Utah, written by those hold ing important positions in the expedition, that Governor Gumming and Gen. John ston had not had that free communica tion with each other which would bo ex pected from their relativo oflicial posi tions. It appears that Governor Cumming kept Gen. Johnston in the dark a good deal as to his movements and purposes. It is feared by some that such a state of things may either prove disastrous to tho object of government in fitting out such au expensivo expedition or bring about a difficulty between tho civil and military power. The report that General Houston con templates an expedition into Mexico is without a shudow of foundation. Imme diately on the adjournment of Congress the General will return to Texas and re main there until tho meeting of Congress. A good deal of anxiety is felt by San ders, Schell and others at tho prospect of the session closing leaving their nomina tions unacted upon. In hucli an event their cnininissions would expire. The House Judiciary Committee mst this morning, and took a vote on the question of impeaching Judge Watrous, of Texas. The vote stood four for, four against. Both sides will bo allowed to report resolutions to the House, when Congress will take such action as seems proper. The committee have been en gaged almost tho entire session, at a very heavy cost to tho government. Official information has been communi cated to government confirming tho state ments published of rich gold discoveries iu Washington Territory. The proposition of J. Glancey Jones, that the next session shall commence in November, will bo pressed, and it is be lieved it will carry, as it is understood the administration is strongly in favor of it. —A r . V. lhrald. The Ulali Keitel Hon. Lkavknwohtii, June I.—lntelligence from Cuuip Scott to the 6th of May, has been received at the Fort. On that day two Mormons came into the Campfrom the city, having dispatches from Governor Cumming for Secretary Cass. The troops were expected to move to wards the valley by tiie end of May.— Nothing was known at the Camp at this date, of any proceedings within tho city. The foregoing intelligence camo by mail to the Fort. The expressinun who brought it sup plies the following additional particulars : He loft Fort Laramie on the 18th iust. At Fort Kearney tho commanding officer directed him to inform Col. Monroe that he had information that Gov. Cumming had been expelled from Salt Lake City, and that the Mormons were in arms, and determined to resist the army to the lust, and also requesting Col. Monroe to push on as speedily as possible. This infor mation, it is understood, was received at Fort Kearney, through the mail brought by this messenger, to whom it was com mitted verbally for lack of time. Col. Ilotlinan’s command, which was met seventy-live miles beyond Fort Lara mie, bad encounterd snow two and threa feet tleep, and many unimals were lust. All tho streams were very high. Tho I‘eace Commissioners were obliged to swim tho River Platte ; they had pass ed Fort Laramie. It was reported that the troops at Camp Scott were living on yiule meat. No official information had been receiv ed at tho Fort, (Leavenworth,) but the authority for the foregoing intelligence is regarded as unquestionable. Charleston Market.
