UR ANGER’S IMPROVED IRON WITCH. Patented December I, 1857. mil E Patentee,in presenting this new JL Stove to the public, deems it. 4>‘ - °l K, r rtLk-jv to make a few remarks in regard to j The old, well known IRON COOKING STOVE Ims been in tho market about TEN YEARS, and has given very general satisfac tion ; but since tho introduction of that Stove, observation and experience lias enabled me to make such improvements in my new IRON WITCII as makes it a much better and more de sirable Stove. The oven bottom of the improved I RON WITCH is better protected, and tho heat in the oven more perfectly equalized by a tine passing from back to front under the oven bottom. Tho air flue at tho back of the oven bottom con ducts a largo body of air along tho bottom, and up between tho front oven plate and /ire-back, pro tecting the latter and equalizing the heat. This air, having become highly neated, passes through tho oven, facilitates the baking, and carries off all smell and impurities. Meat baked in this oven will ho found entirely free from tho dead baked taste usual to meats done in the common air tight ovens. Asa bread baker, this oven will give groat satisfaction, and enable tho cook to turn out a lighter, more nutritious and palatable bread. Tho Hue at the back of tho oven is divided so as to give much more heat towards tho sides; by this means equalizing the heat, and making it more intense at this point, at the sumo time preventing it from escaping into the stove-pipe before thor oughly heating tho back and sidi-s of the Stove. With tho above improvements, tho Patentee has also exercised all the experience of thirty years in the stove business, in making this Stove STRONG and DURABLE. The plates are so constructed and equalized that the expansion and contraction of the iron will not crack them, and all tho parts are strengthened that come in immediate contact with the fire. In fact, no labor nor expense lies boon spared iu ma king the Improved Iron Witch the very best wood Cooking Stove in the market, and one that has no equal. Wo extract from tho Floridian of the 9th inat. tho following additional advices from tho Florida elections : Leon County —Hawkins, for Congress, reocivod 882 ; Westcott 123 votes. Vote for tho licmocrntio candidates for Houso: For John B. Galbraith, 357; for T. W. Brevard, jr. 430 : for Joseph B. Christie, 864; for R. (1. Williams, 387. Dr. Max well received, ns an independent candi date, 160 votes. It is due to some of the opposition to say, that quite a number of Whigs nnd Americans voted for Judge Hawkins and one or more of tiie Democratic House candidates. Wakulla —This couuty lias given Haw kins a majority of 78. Tho vote stands, Hawkins 132; Westcott 64. Capt. 11. H. Walker is elected to the Senate, ami T. J. M. Richardson to the Houso—both Demo crats, but voted for by a majority of all parties, without regard to heir politics. Gadsden —A gentleman from tins coun ty reports Hawkins’ otlicial majority to bo 108! Liberty votes with Undsden for Houso members. Davidson, independent, cer tftinly elected, but the official vote of both counties was necessary to determine the other two. Jtjj'erson —No returns from this county, except reports from two precincts—Mon lieello and IVakeona. Hawkins received a majority of 219 at the first and some 70 at the latter. Madison —This county gives Hawkins a majority of 39. Taylor and Lafayette voto with Madison for Senator and As semblymen. Iu Taylor Hawkins received a majority of 0, and Lafayette gives Westcott a majority of 71—making his majority in tho three counties only 26. Europe is about to experience that ple thora of money which is too often th precursor of speculation. From the state ment, however, of an English correspon dent of a New York journal, the parties who are embarrassed witii this plethora of cash arc at a loss on which side to turn for investments. Interest of money has fallen to 2 percent, per annum, and there are fears of its falling lower. He writes with regard to railroads: “The public are still disposed to be extremely wary os regards enterprise which depends in any way upon the hon esty of engineers, contractors, or direc tors. Foreign loans also would find very limited favor. Miningspcculations have for years been hopelessly out of credit, and the same may be said with respect to land nnd colonization schemes. Steam ship companies would not be looked at for a moment, and joint stock banks are in still worse odor. No Admirals. The recent statement that commanders of such expeditions ns that to l’araguay would hereafter liuvo I ho title of Admiral in tho United States naval service, is thus corrected by tho Washington Htar : A ling ofiicerof the Navy, who held his commission for twenty years or more, is, by a recent regulation of the Navy, al lowed to wear his flag at the fore instead of toe mlzzon mast, while those whose commissions are of more recent dale, will carry their flags nt the mizzen. No title of Admiral nor any other of higher grade than flag officer will be recognizod by the Navy Department. Fire In a State Capitol. A fire broke out on Tuesday last in the basement storehouse of the .State Capitol, ut Columbus, Ohio, which was subdued before it had extended to other portions of the building, but not until a large quantity of public documents, stationery, &0., had been destroyed. Among the public documents were five or six hundred volumes embracing the only complete set extant of documents from the first organi zation of the territorial government to the present time, were totally ruined. These documents were of great value as reoords, and it will be impossible to re place them. TOBACCO AGENCY, COLUMBUS, GEORGIA.
