Washington, Nov. 14.—Private letters from Guaymas, Sonora, to October 10th, spoaking of the revolution there, confirm the Herald’s statements, and say that Capt. Stone, with liis surveying party, consisting of about thirty Americans, oc cupied threo houses in tho centre of the town, directly betwoon tho opposing par ties. If an attack bad been made on him, he would have hoisted the American tlag and fought under it, being well armed, and having a plenty of ammunition, and a brig in tho harbor mounting two nine pounders. Lieut. Mowry was also ready to lend assistance with his men. The civil war had been ended by tho surrender of tho authorities to the rebels, who, after getting all they demanded, and a guaranty of immunity from prosecution, reinstated the authorities. That tho Americans were not attacked was owing to their firm position and their declining to surrender their houses to tho rebel leaders. Tho following is the statement of tho lierald, alluded to above : A revolution broke out iu Gaaymas about the Ist of October last, caused by the local authorities having sold some of the lands belonging to the Pueblo of Guaymas, which was entirely against the wishes of a great portion of the people of tho place, who declared that the authori ties had no right to sell the same, and that it was not thoir wish that any such salo should bo made, or the titles to the same passed, tlio authorities contending that they had the right to Bell, and would do so. The people armed themselves, took possession of tho forts, the town, and imprisoned the Prefect, the Judges of the first and second instances, and some of the Councilmen threatening to shoot them if their demands were not acceded to, and their rights respected. This the authori ties pledged themselves to do, and were liberated. Some few days aftorwards, the authori ties not moving in the matter, the people again took possession of the fort back of and commanding the fort and the road, entering the town from llermisillo, aud threatened to tako the authorities and shoot them if they did not fulfill their pledge. After some considerable nego tiation, during tho day, the people agreed to givo tho authorities until the evening of the 10th to do bb they promised. This was the state of affairs when our inform ant loft on tho morning of that day. Captain Chnrlcs T. Stone, chief of the commission for the survey of tho State of Sonora, with his party of engineers, &e., wero at Guaymas, all well, and had been hard at work. Lieut. Mowry, member elect to Congress from Arizona and New Mexico, was iu Guaymas, in good health and spirits; would return to Arizona shortly, on his way to Washington. Tho Shasta (California) Courier, of tho 9th iust., contain? tho following as a tel egraphic dispatch from Yreka, under date of tho Bth: A frightful accident occurcd last night at tho Colton Theatre. The Alleghanians were performing in the presence of a very large audience. Most of tho ladies of Y T reka wero present. When the concert had fairly commenced, at tho close of a very popular soDg, tho stamping of tho audience shaking the stage, caused one of the camplieno lamps so upset, and whilo one or two persons were endeavor ing to smother tho flames, another lamp upset. About this time the crowd made a rush for the stairs. Several persons seized the carpet of tho stage with which to smother tho flumes, when most of the other lamps were upset. Tho flames now loomed up terrifically, aud thescroams of the women and children were appalling. Tho jam at the stairway was suffocating. Several of tho ladies fainted, and it seem ed that the whole stage was in a blaze. The terror and confusion that prevailed throughout the whole room at tho instant can be comprehended only by those who have been .placed in a like situation. Somo jumped down from tho froDt balustrade, some ten or twelve feet to the ground ; others jumped down stairs over (lie heads of tho men aud women; some went down head first; and this morning we find but few persons who knew how (hey got down at all. Hut wo are glad to say that all got out of tho theatre without serious injury. Tho only complaintH we hoar of, so far, are skinned shins, bruised heads and smushed corns, the loss of hats and caps among the men, and mantillas, shawls, bonnets and otber meutionables that re quire more space than was allowed at tho moment, among tho women. Tire Bemlnole*. Dr. Barron, Lighthouse keeper at Cape Florida, now on a visit to this city, states that eighty Seuiirvple Indians have visited tho Miami since the first appearance there of Tiger Tail aud party within two months. We uro assured that there oan be no niia | lake about this information, as the set i tiers at the Miami have kept a strict co oount of tho Indians as they have come ’ in, with a view of ascertaining bow many there aro now remaining in the State.—• From the Indians themselves no informa tion as'to numbers can bo obtained. l)r. Barron is of the opinion that there are at ’ least 129 or 180 Indians now iu Florida, and says they are in command of the eastern coast, and aro likely to become a set of pirates, should a vessel bo stranded ou the con*t away from the assistance of the whites. If it is the intention of Gov ernment to remove these Indians, it woold be well to send an agent tb the Miami at once, while tho Indians are visiting that post. —Florida Key of the Gulf, Glh tnet.
