The same paper says : The speculative movements in tho hug nnd its products are unabated, and a fur ther improvement lias boon established iu moss pork and lard, Iho former having been taken largely fur future delivery, nt an advance of fully $1 per barrel during the week. The Virginians are selling pork for March delivery, freely, and yesterday they could not find takers on ’change at $lB for March, until a bull who was at another point, was asked by telegraph would he take 2,000 bbla mess for March at $lB, and ho replied “yes.” Lard is in quiet demand nt 11 cents on the spot, and 11J cents for future delive ry. They did not seem to ho sharp after bulk meat; but, notwithstanding a good business has been done. Green meals have been sold slowly during tho weerk, partly owing to the bad weather, and the market closing dull at f> and 8 cents for shoulders and hams. Hogs have arrived quite freely during tho week, but the short crop men are now looking confidently sot tho “tapering off,” though, for our part, wo cannot perceive any indications of it. The sales during tho weok add up 6,000 bond, closing at $6 to $0 00 for those averaging 140 to 180 lbs.; $0 75 to $0 85 for those averag ing 200 lbs., and $7 to $7 20 for those averaging 210 to 250 lbs. Tho market closes rather tame. M omphlii and LIUIo Rock Railroad. The Memphis Appeal has received a lettor from a member of tho House of Representatives of Arkansas, dated at Littlo Rock, November 20, which states that two bills will soon be introduced into the Legislature, for the benefit of the Memphis and Little Rock, and the Mis sissippi, Ouachita aud Red River Rail Roads, which are very well calculated to finally insure tho completion of tlieso two great lines, with the proper aid on tho part of thoir frionds. Under the compact between the Gene ral Government and the .State of Arkan sas, five per cent, of the proceeds of the sales of tho public lands, in thnt State, is reserved for tho benefit of road* nnd canals. This live por cent, now amounts to about eighty thousand dollars, lly a joint resolution of Congress this amount has boon appropriated to tho payment of interost on the bonds of tho State, by the General Government. Tho .State of Ar kansas thereby hoonmos indebted to her internal improvement fund about $80,01)0. One of the bills to bo introduced requires the Governor to take $40,000 iu stock in each of the railroads boforo mentioned—. the money to bo paid nt the time tho subscription shall be mads. The ‘other hill authorizes a loan of all the surplus money in the Treasury, and all that may acoumuliito for the next two years, to those two roads, in proportion to the amount of road-bed they may have completed. If this last bill shall pass tho Legislature, it is believed thnt it will seouro the oarly completion of tho Mom phis and Little Rock road, when it is considered that it will afford strong en couragement to private subscriptions, and will mainly provide for tho purchase of tho iron necessary to complete the road. The bill also provides that the two roads bo allowed to pay back tho money thus loaned to them in bonds of tho State, which can now bo purchased at 48 cents. Tho State may thus nominally lose, but sho will really gain by gradually puying off her publio debt, and by the increase of taxablo property carried into the State by emigrants who will bo stimulated to removo to the State in oonseqnenae of the faoilitles afforded them by thoso roads.
