<s|e |laily suu. Prospects of Congress* Tho Washington States of the 13th iust. says: Senator Mason’s resolutions, empower ing the Prcsidont to use the army and navy, if necessary, iu tho settlement of our Spanish-Amoricau disputes, moot very general approbation, and will in all pro bability, be adopted. Our rolations with these Powers demand that tho Executive should be, armed with authority to act vigorously and effectively whouever tho proper occasion arises. Tho adoption of these resolutions will probably bo all the legislation of Congross on our foreign re lations this winter. It is not likely tho Committee on Foreign Relations in tho House will report eithor tho bill of Mr. Branch or Mr. Slidell, in reference to the purchase of Cuba, or if reported, that either will be adopted. The House Committee on Naval affaflhs have authorised Mr. Winslow to report a till! adding twonty additional pursers, eleven surgeons, and liftcen assistant sur geous, to the number already oxistiug in the navy. This increase is much needed, and will doubtless be made by Congress. A bill to increase the muriuo force will also be reported shortly, and probably adopted. Pressing necessity exists for this augmen tation of the navy. The tariff project hangs lire iu the Com mittee of Ways and Means. No bill yet presented meets the concurrence of a ma jority of tho committee. It is not impro bable, however, that a bill bo presented to tlio House in a few days; arrange ments are said to be in progress to com pass this end. Tho matter onco beforo the House, thcro is little hope of protecting the country against a protective tariff, with specific duties. The hopes of tho friends of a revenue tariff lay in keoping the matter beforo the committee. Arrest unit Hiilse<|unit Kscape of Counterfeiters* We learn that four men, two calling tliemsclvs by the name of Brown and two by the name of Covey, were arrested in Laurence county, Monday last, for pass ing counterfeit bills on sundry citizens of that county. The bills wore tfioO’s, pur porting to be issued by the Georgia Rail Road and Bunking Cos., and some S3OO were disposed of. The parties, from in attention on the part of the guard, made their escape, it is believed, two of them towards Augusta and two for this city. Tho Coveys are represented to boos medium height, stout built, black hair ami whiskers, inclined to he gray, and from forty to forty-five years of age. The Browns aro both small and spare-built men, both light hair, smooth face, and from twenty to tweuty-fivo years of age. Wo regret that wo could not obtain a more accurato description of tho men, but trust that our rnoagro outline will con tribute something towards their arrest. They represented themselvos as horse trader’s from Tennessee. —Savannah llep. The Hunting Lords. The Milwaukie News of the 20th ult., in announcing the arrival, gives some ac count of tho sporting English noblemen. With the exploring party sent out by the Canadian government. They left Selkirk, a settlement of some 8,000 inhabitants, on tho Red and Assinuoboino rivers, on the 29th of November, with a train of seventy dogs, for Crow Wing, which point they reached after fifteen days’ travol.— At the time of the St. I’aul excursion, the hunting party were supposed to have been killed by the Indians, but it seems such was not the case. They had, as trophies of the chase, a largo lot of buf falo and other furs, the hide and horns of a magnificent buffalo bull that oamo near killing Lord Cavendish, several In dian curiosities, and one of the dogs used for drawing sledges—one of the Esqui maux breed—a hearty appetite, and tho rugged health of a grizzly bear. They describe tho life thoy havo been living as rather romantic—one day hunting, tho next fishing; one day chasing Sioux In dians, and the next being chased in re turn, and, in all, vory pleasant. Mr. Richardson reports tho country as fine prairie, clear atmosphere, pleasant in summer, cold in winter, and very healthy. A* it is a well attested fact that Dyspepsia is tho origin of tho suffering of a largo portion of those who die of consumption, it becomes the duty of every one to use such precautions against and remedies for Dy spepsiaas science and experience have pieced before them, and which have proved to be efficacious; of this character is l)r. William’s Anti-Dyspiptic Elixir, in corroboration of which read the following testimonials: Testimony of Mr. Michael Dunn, Superintend ent of the Philadelphia Exchange, corroborative of the efficacy of William’s Anti-Dyspiptic Elixir: Philadelphia, March 16,1863. Dr. Jamk a Williams—For several years past I havo been liable to attacks of Dyspepsia; but noverhave I been more distressingly afflicted with its symptoms than within the last few weeks. Indigestion, nervous irritability, despondency, a sense of weight in tho stomach, and severe paine in the leftside, rendered me, for tho time being, truly wretched. Fortunately, I was recommended by a friend to try your Elixir. 1 did so, and in less than two weeks indigestion ceased; pain and nervous depression left me, and appetite, With mental and bodily health, were fnlly restored. To me tho cure seemed almost miraculous, and my object in writing to you is—a hope that other per sons suffering the miseries of Dyspepsia will avail themselves of your efficient remedy. I am, dear sir, yours truly, .MICHAEL DUNN. AN INVALUAULE REMEDY FOR DYSPEPSIA. Read tho testimony of the wife of Mr. John .Stiles, on tho Frankford Road, near the first toll gate: Frankford Road, Oct. 26, 1849. I)r. James Williams —Having recently under stood that it is your intention to resume the pre paring of your Anti-Dyspeptic Elixir, and being anxious that others maybe bonefitted by its use as I have been, I horowith send you, for publica tion, if you think proper, a statement of tho effec tual euro produced oil me by it. For a number of years I havo been suffering to such au extent, that I became so much debilita tod, ami the digestive powers so much destroyed, that it was with difiiculty I could tako and retain sufficient nourishment to support life. Neither myself nor my friends were aware that my suffer ing proceeded from indigestion; in tho year 1839 my attention was directed by my husband to your advertisement, at that time published iu some of the city papers, explaining tho causes and symp toms of dyspepsia, and confidently offering a remedy. I immediately procured and used your medicine with tho most signal success; from a state of debility, languor and nervousness, and complete loss of tho power of digestion, so great that I could tako at first only five drops of tho Elixir at a dose, 1 was in a few days much re lieved, and by continuing it a short time I havo been restored to hoalth, strength and vigor, which I still retain. I take great pleasure, sir, in mak ing known tho ofiicacy of your Anti-Dyspeptic Elixir, and sincerely hope it may bo the means of inducing others to go and bo benefited like mysolf. Very respectfully, Ac., HANNAII STILES. The “Elixir” is sold in bottles at $1 each, or six bottles for $6. Proprietor, JAMES WILLIAMS, M. Columbus, Jan. 29, ’6B-ly THE LIVER INVIGOBATOR. PREPARED BY DR. SANFORD, Compounded entirely from Gums, AS one of the best Purgatives and Liver Medicines now beforo tho public that acts as a Cathartic, easier, milder, and more effectual than any other medicine known. It is not only a Cathartic, but a Liver remedy, acting first on the Liver to eject its morbid matter, thou on the stomach aud bowels to carry off that matter, thus accomplishing two pur poses effectually, without any of tho pa nful feel ings experienced in the operation of most Cathar tics. it strengthens the system at the same time that it purges it; and when taken daily in moder ate doses, will strengthen and build it up with unusual rapidity. The Liver is one of 7A the principal regula tors of tho human body; and when ii per forms its functions i j well, tho powers arc fully developed. The fS stomach is almost en tirely dependent on r the healthy action of the Liver for the per- .. ! formance of its func tions; when the stum- *y ach is at fault, tho bowels are at fault. *-\ iand the whole system suffers iu consequence l of oue or g a n—the Liver—having ceased m to do its duty. For the diseases of that organ, one of the pro prietors has made it his study, in a practice of more* than twenty years, to find some remedy wherewith to counteract tho many derangements to M which it is liable. To prove that this gU remedy isat lastfound, any person troubled . with Liver Com plaint, in any of its H forms, has but to try a bottle, and conviction w is certain. These Gums remove u ill morbid or bad mat ter from the system, t*. supplying in their place a healthy iiow r of \JI bile, invigorating the stomach, causing food to digest well, puri fy in g the blood giving tone and health to the whole machine- W ry, removing the cause of the disease—effect L ing a radical cure. Bilious attacks are jare cured, and, what is better, prevented, H by the occasional use of tho Liver Invigo irator. One dose after eating J is sufficient to relieve the stomach and pre %i vent the food from rising and souring. ‘ j Only one dose taken beforo retiring, pre vents Nightmare. m Only one dose taken at night, loosens the bowels gently, and ~ cures Costiveness. One dose taken after m each meal will cure Dyspepsia. ** One dose of two tea-spoonfuls will al ways relieve Sick , , j Headache. One bottle taken for *• | female obstruction re moves the cause of tho , , ; disease, and makes a perfect cure. Ty Only onedoseiimne- diately relieves Chol ic, while Ono dose, often re- \ Ipeated, is a sure cure for Cholera Morbus, and a preventive of Cholera. Only one bottle is j needed to throw'out of the system the effects H of medicine after a long sickness. Oue bottle taken for Jaundice removes all sallownesu or un-; iji natural color from the skin. ! ! die dose taken a; short time before eat ing gives vigor to the >appetite, and makes food digest Well. One dose often re- ; LJ posted, cures Chronic Diarrhoea in its worst j GQ j forms, while Summer and Bowel couiplaintH* yield almost to the first dose. One or two doses 1 JS cures attacks caused by Worms in Chil r dren; thereisnosurer, safer, or speedier rein- edy iu the world, as it never fails. i l3 1 A few bottles cures i j Dropsy, by exciting the absorbents. We take pleasure in fj recommending this medicine as a proven- live for Fever and Ague, Chill Fevei,< and all Fevers of a Bilious Type. I toper- rp ates with certainty, and thousands are wil- i ling to testify to its wonderful virtues. j j All wdio used it aro giving their unanimous tes timony in its favor. water iu the mouth with the Invigora tor, aud swallow both together. TIiJK LIVER INVIGOBATOR Is a Scientific Medical Discovery, and is daily work- almost 100 great for belief. It cures as if by magic, even the first dose giving benefit, and seldom more than oue bottle is required to cure any kind of Liver Complaint, from the worst Jaun dice or Dyspepsia to a common Headache, ali of which are the result of a DISEASED LIVER.
