Mr. Desduncs ha- furnished us villi much information concerning the rcecut insurrection in llayti, some notice of which wo ha t by telegraph, via Boston, iu last Tuesday's ELcayune. Tim insurrection broke out on the 2(ith December at Gonaivcs. a seaport town of about four thousand inhabitants, sixty five miles north of Fort nu l’rince. The loader, General GeH'rad, was at Fort uu Ermce at the time, occupying the oonti lential position of tho Emperor Sou louque’s chief of the military statT. lie left Fort au Erinco at the first intimation of the revolt, and, as stated in our tele graphic dispatch, was proclaimed by the .n-iiigouts at Gunaives Ercsideut of the ••republic” of llayti. He had under him at l ist dates the troops of the department of Artibonite, in which Gonaivcs is situ ated, and held that town with about 2000 men. The Emperor left Fort au Erinco on the morning of the 27i!i, at the head of 0000 en, and on the Rlst. of December had ‘'cached the seaport town of Arcahaye, me distance north of Fort au Erince, on his way to attack Getfrad. ATKINSON A TAYLOR. DYSPEPSIA, A 8 shown by the statement of tho Board of /\ Health of New York, caused the death of 76 persons out of 611 deaths ill one week, and 131 deaths by consumption, induced by Dyspepsia. At* it is a well attested fact that Dyspepsia in the origin of tho suffering of a largo portion of those who die of consumption, it becomes the duty of every one to use such precautions against and remedies for Dyspepsia as science and experience have pieced before thorn, and which have proved to be efficacious; of this character in Dr. Wiiliam’h Anti-Dyspeptic Elixir, iu corroboration of which road the following testimonials: Testimony of Mr. Michael Dunn, Superintend ent of the Philadelphia Exchange, corroborative of the efficacy of William’s Am i-Dysi*ptic Elixir : Philadelphia, March 16,1853. Du. James Williams— For several years past I have been liable to attacks of Dyspepsia; but uevcrhuvo 1 boon rpor**distie:*dngly afflicted with its symptoms than within the last few weeks. Indigestion, nervous irritability, despondency, a sense of weight in tho stomach, and severe pains in tho loft side, rendered me, for tho time being, truly wretched. Fortunately, 1 was recommended by a friend to try your Elixir. I did so, aud in loss than two weeks indigestion ceased; pain and nervous depression lot. me, and appetite, with mental and bodily health, wore fully restored. To me tin* cure seemed ulirost miraculous, and my object in writing to yon *—a hope that other per sons suffering the iiiisoriesof Dyspepsia will avail themselves of your efficient remedy. I am, dear sir, yours truly, MICHAEL DUNN. AN IN VALUABLE RLMBDT FOR DYSPCPBIA. Head tho testimony of t’ a wife of Mr. John Jtiles, on tho Fiankford lload, near the flrst toll gate: Frank ford Hoad, Oct. 25, 1841). I)r. Jamxs Williams—Having recently under stood that it is your intention to resume the pre paring of your Anti*Dyspeptic Elixir, and being anxious that others uiuy be bemditted by its use as I have been, 1 herewith semi you, for publica tion, if you think ; roper, a statement of the effec tual cure produced on me by it. For a number of years 1 have been suffering to such au extent, that J became so much debilita ted, ud tho digestive powers so much destroyed, that it was with difficulty T could take and retain sufficient nourishment to support life. Neither myself nor my friends wore aware that my suffer ing proceeded from indigestion; in tho year 1839 my attention was directed by my husband to your advertisomeut, at that time published in some of tho city papers, explaining tho causes and symp toms of dyspepsia, and confidently offering a remedy I immediately procured and used your medicine with tho most signal success; from a state of debility, languor and nervousness, and complete loss of tho power of digestion, so great that I could take at first only five drops of tho Elixir at a dose, I was in a few days much re lieved, ami by continuing it a short time I havo been restored to health, strength and vigor, which I still retain. I take great pleasure, sir, in mak ing known the efficacy of your Anti-Dyspeptic Elixir, and sincerely hope it may be tho means of inducing others togo and ho benefited like myself. Vary respect fully, Ac., HANNAH STILES. The “Elixir” is sold in bottles at $1 each, or six bottles for $5. Proprietor, JAMES WILLIAMS, M. HULL, DUCK A CO., J. S. PEMBERTON & CO., BROOKS & CHAPMAN, Sept. 1,1858-1 y Columbus, Ga. THE LIVER invigo PREPARED BY DR. SANFORD, Compounded entirely from Gums, IS one of the best Purgatives and Liver Medicines now before the public that acts as a Cathartic, easier, milder, und more effectual than any other medicine known. It is not only a Cathartic, but a Liver remedy, acting first on the Liver to eject its morbid matter, then on the stomach and bowels to carry off'that matter, thus accomplishing two pur poses effectually, without any of the pa'uful feel ings experienced in the operation of most Cathar tics. It strengthens the nystem at tho same time that it purges it; and when taken daily in moder ate doses, will strengthen aud build it up with unusual rapidity. The Liver i9 one of FjN j the principal regula tors of tho human bo- w* jdy; and when it per forms its functions ■ well, tho powers arc fully developed. The : stomach is almost en tirely dependent on r Itho healthy action of tho Liver for tho per- y formauce of its func tions; when the stum ach is at fault, the bowels aro at fault, i and the wholo system suffers in consequence !of one organ—the Liver—having ceased m. to do its duty. For the diseases of that organ, one of the pro prietors Ims made it his study, in a practice of more than twenty W years, to find sonic remedy wherewith to counteract the many and orangemen ts to W which it liable. To prove that this gV remedy is at last found, any person troubled ; with Liver Cos in plaiut, in any of its H j forms, has but to try a bottle, and conviction w is certain. These Gums remove w all morbid or bad mat ter from the system, supplying in their place a healthy flow of (JJ bile, invigorating tho stomach, causing food to digest well, puri fying the blood. ; giving tone and health to the whole machine Uj ■ ry, removing the cause of tbe disease—effect L ing a radical cure. Bilious attacks arc jaro cured, and, what is better, prevented, H by tho occasional use of tho Liver luvigo Irator. One dose after eating J is sufficient to roliove the stomach and pre vj ! vent tho food from rising aud souring. Only one dose taken ~ before retiring, pre vents Nightmare. m | Only one dose taken at night, loosens the bowels gently, and t , 1 cures Costive ness. One dose taken after m ieach meal w ill euro Dyspepsia. One dose of two !tea-spoonfuls will al ways relieve Sick Headache. One bottle taken for | female obstruction re moves the cause of the j, ! disease, and makes a perfect cure. \y Only one dose immo- CJ Idiately rolieves Chol ic, while One dose, often re- J jpeated, is a sure cure for Cholera Morbus,’ and a preventive of Cholera. 1 Only cue bottle is | needed to throw out of tho system tho effects nos medicine after a long sickness. One bottle taken for’ fX Jaundice removes all sallowness or uu natural color from the akin. One dose taken a short time before eat ing gives vigor to tin* appetite, and makes food digest well. One dose often re- peated, cures Chronic Diarrhoea in its worst Uy forms, while Summer and Bowel complaints c yield almost to the first dose. * One or two doses cures attacks caused by Worms in Ciiil r dren; there is no surer, safer, or speedier rem- oily in the world, as it never tails. Lj A few bottles cures *-• Dropsy, by exciting the absorbents. We take pleasure in Cj recommending this medicine as a proven- tivo for Fever and Ague, Chill Ft-vei. . and all Fevers of a Bilious Type. Iloper- rH ates with certainty, and thousands are wil- C'* ling to testify to its wonderful virtues. , All who used it are giving their unanimous tes timony in its favor. 4L£*Mix water in the mouth with tho lnvigora tor, and swallow both together. THE LIVER IN VIGOR ATOR. Is a Scientific Medical Discovery, and is daily work ing, cures almost roo great for belief. It cures as if by magic, even the first dose giving benefit, and seldom more than one bottle is required to cure any kind of Liver Complaint, from the worst Jaun dice or Dyspepsia to a common Headache, all of which are the result of a DISEASED LIVER.
