Rousns is our Traveling Agent in Alabama, and is authorized to receive and receipt for subscriptions to the Daily and Weekly Sun. ——♦- To Advertisers. McKee, correcting error in his father’s publication in refer ence to Mr. Heberts. Hirer News. The rains of Friday and Saturday have served to put the river up to a good boat ing stage. We are without any advices in regard to the movements of any of the boats be low. Arrived. Mr. and Mrs. Crisp and their Dramatic corps arrived in our city yesterday, and open at Temperance Hall this evening. The high character given this Company by the press of Nashville and Memphis, where they have passed Jong and suc cessful engagements, both this season and last, lead us to expect, very agveea ble entertainments during their short engagement in our city. Fatal Accident. We are pained to have to record a fatal accident which happened to Mr. Richard Coleman, overseer for Mrs. McDougald, ten miles below this city, on the Georgia side of the river. While out duck hunt ing on last Saturday morning, by some means bis gun was accidentally discharg ed, lodging the entire contents in his left side, and causing his death almost in. stnntly. A negro boy who was in com pany with him says he only exclaimed, “I am a dead man,” and immediately ex pired. Mr. Coleman was only 27 years of age. Haof Columbus. On the 10th irist., the Capital Stock of the above institution was increased to the amount authorized by the charter— $500,- 000. Oa that day the last dollar of this sum was paid in and the bank launched upon a career of wider usefulness, com mensurate with its augmented resources. It is a matter of congratulation with our community, and all others that have shared the benefits of its operation, that, during au existence of two years, a single circumstance has not occurred to disturb the confidence which its auspicious inau guration was so weil calculated to inspire. Iu prosperous and adverse times it lias steadily advanced in popular favor, and to-day, at home and abroad, it enjoys an equal rank with the first banking insti tutions of the South. The place which it holds in public estimation may be inferred from the fact that the applications for stock far overran its charter limitation, and seven and a half per cent, premium was offered and refused for subscriptions to the new stock. No better guarantee than this of its able and faithful manage ment could be given, especially when it is known that tho premium bid was made by a gentleman, himself a banker, and skilled in ail the intricacies of financial opperatious.— Times. The Florida Indians. We learn from the Peninsular of the 22d instant, that Capt. McNeill, who has been out to the Istapoga country, accom panied by an interpreter and two or three of tho Indians composing the dele gation, had returned to Tampa, and re ports having conversed with four war riors. They are not williug to go West, but the Captain thinks they may be induced to do so. They promised to meet Col. Hector and discuss tire subject of removal. I/Htchl from Hayti. A dispatch from Now York on Satur day states that private advices have been received from Hayti up to the 10th inst. It is staled that Soloquo had been defeat ed by Geffard, and that the former was retreating, pursued by the latter. It is now believed that the empire is in the hands of the revolutionists. The Vote of the North-West The following is the popular vote of tho North-West, according to the elections of 1850 and 1858: Ohio 390,000 Illinois 252,000 Indiana 235,000 Michigan 120,000 Wisconsin 130,000 ; lowa 95,000 Minnesota 35,000 Total 1,263,000 Thu seven North-Western States, says , the Toledo (Ohio) blade, poll a hundrel j thousand more votes than the fifteen slave States. They cast nearly one-third of 1 the votes of the Union ! After the census ! of 1800 the North-West will be the gov erning power of the Confederacy and anti-slavery. The health of Tampa is still improving ; on the cast side of tho river there is not a single case of fever, and on the west side, there are but two. Hut little doubt is now entertained of a speedy restoration perfect health.— Peninrular, 22 J <n*f~ Arrival of tiie Tennessee, New Orleans, Jan. 29.—The steamship Tennessee has arrived, with Vera Cruz ■ dates to the 25th inst. The Spanish licet had left Sacrificios for Havana. Accounts received from tho City of : Mexico to tho 19th instant, report that ■ Mi ram on would not accept the Presiden cy ; nor would he favor Robles, but would adhere to Zulonga’s plan, lio was march | ing upon tho capital; and had ordered a j forced loan of SOOO,OOO on Guadalajara, I including foreigners, who paid under j threats of expulsion. It is stated that the French and English | Ministers had demanded from Juarez the immediate payment of claims duo tho sub jects of their respective Governments— and iu ease of non compliance, they would seize Vera Cruz and Tampico. The Lib erals bad taken Mazalbar. Congressional. Washington, Jan. 28. —1n the Senate to day, Mr. Gwin, of California, gave notice of a motion to reconsider the Pacific rail way bill. In the House, Mr. Stephens, of Geor gia, introduced bills establishing Terri torial governments over Arizona, Dncotnh and Jefferson. The last embraces the Platte country. Nutiounl Democratic Caucus, Washington, Jan. 29.—1n relation to many suggested alterations in the revenue laws, the Senatorial caucus have declared that they regard it inexpedient to increase the tariff, but on the contrary, suggest that the expenses of the government ought to be reduced to meet the present revenue. Vessels Ashore. Boston, Jan. 28.— The ship Roebuck, from New Orleans, has gone ashore on Cobasset Rocks, aud bilged. The crew were saved. The brig George Washington, for Mo bile, has gone ashoro in Nantucket roads. She will probably be got off at high water. +_ Tiie Bitllad of tile Fluid ! Beside the suffering caused by the inhos pitable climate, the intenge cold brought on rheu matism, stiffness of the joints, Ac., aud the privation from fresh meat and vegetables produced that terrible disease, scurvy. Their sufferings from these causes were very groat, and would have been unendurable but for the happy results of a Lini ment iuvented expressly for their use by the cele brated Dr. A.G. Bragg, a plentiful supply of which was takon along with the expedition. This Lini ment proved ho valuable, and its merits were so fully continued, under the most unfavorable cir cumstances, that Dr. Bragg has boon induced to commence it* manufacture for the public, lie calls it very properly Bragg's Arctic Liniment.
