flails Southern Pacific Hall lioail. Tho New Orleans Picayune of the B<l instant says: Wo aro receiving, at last, correct and authentic accounts of the proceedings at Marshall. This morning we bad the p ensure to meet Mr. James Crutcher, of Kentucky, ono of the stockholders, who went to .Marshall to seo to the interests of the stockholders ; and his intelligence is highly encouraging. The arrival of ilie President with ample funds, and the energetic course pursued in meeting with dcliauce the attempts to defeat the com pleting of the compromise arrangements, have had an auspicious ciroot. This com missioners abandoned the technical at tempt to claim a forfeiture, bccauso of tho accidental detaining of i>r. Fowlkes on the road, and have consented to proceed to tlie auditing of tho claims payable under tbu trust deoil and subsequent agreements; and, under the process of a keen silting of accounts, wo learn that tho amount has been v.cry materially reduced. Our readers will remember that tho es timate presented to tho stockholders was, that tho sum of J:d27,00() would bo re quired to pay all tho debts, included in the terms of tho compact at Marshall. — The ventilating process has, we aro told, thrown out a considerable portion of Ibis sum, ami brought down tho aggregate to Icsh than $200,000, with the prospect of -till further reduction. This amount, •when ngrecd upon, is payable in throe installments at intervals of sixty days’ each ; and the President lias abundant means with him to pay up. as soon as tho claims are all audited. Tho aspect of affairs is therefore extremely promising, and wo look in a few days f..r the ollicinl announcement licit tlio money has been paid, and all provided for a resumption of the property of the road, by the stockholders; and then for preparations to prosecute tho work with vigor. -♦ Tl l.nrgcut Snlc ofl.Hnit Kvtrltlinlo In Arkansas. Columbus, January 26-ts DYSPEPSIA, A S rihown by the statement of tlio Ihmrd of V\_ Health of New York, caused tlio death of 76 persons out <>f 611 deaths iu ono week, and 131 deaths by consumption, Induced by Dyspepsia. Art it irt a well attested fact that Dyspepsia is tho origin of the Huflforing of a large portion of those who die of coujumption, it a/econus the duty of every one to use such precautions against and remedies for Dyspepsia as science and experience have pieced before them, and which have proved to he efficacious; of this character is Dr. William’s Anti-Dvspkitic Elixir, in corroboration of which read the following testimonials: Testimony of Mr. Michael Dunn, Superintend ent of the Philadelphia Exchange, corrohorativo of the efficacy of Wji.liam’s Anh-Dybpeptic Elixir: I'UILADKLI'HIA, March 16, 1853. Dr. Jambs Williams—For several years past I havo been liable to attacks of Dyspepsia; hut ueverhavo I been more distressingly afflicted with its symptoms than within the last few weeks. Indigestion, nervous irritability, despondency, a sense of weight in tho stomach, and severe pains in the left side, rendered me, for the time being, truly wretched. Fortunately, I was recommended by a friend to try your Elixir. 1 did so, and in less than two weeks indigestion ceased; pain and nervous depression left me, and appetite, with mental and bodily health, wore fully restored. To me tlm cure seemed almost miraculous, and my object In writing to you is—a hope that other per sons suffering the miseries of Dyspepsia will avail them* Ives of your efficient remedy. I am, dear sir, yours truly, MICHAEL DUNN. AN INVALUABLE IIKMKBY FOR DYSPEPSIA. Read the testimony of tho vsilo of Mr. John Stiles, on the Frank ford Road, near tho first toll gate: Fran k ford Road, Oct. 25, 1841). Dr. James Williams— Having recently under stood that it is your inteutiou to resume the pre paring of your Anti-Dyspeptic Elixir, and being anxious that others maybe bouefitted by its use iih 1 have been, I herewith send you, for publica tion, if you think proper, a statement of the effec tual cure produced on mo by it. For a number of years I have been suffering to hucli an extent, that I became 30 much debilita ted, aud tho digestive powers so much destroyed, that it was with difficulty i could take and retain sufficient nourishment to support life. Neither myself nor my friends were aware that my suffer ing proceeded from indigestion; in tho year 1839 my attention was directed by my husband to your advertisement, at that time published in some of tin* city papers, explaining the causes and symp toms of dyspepsia, ami confidently offering a remedy. 1 immediately procured and used your medicine with the most signal success; from a state of debility, languor and nervousness, and complete loss of the power of digostion, so great that. I could take at first only five drops of tho Elixir at a dose, 1 was in a lew days much re lieved, and by continuing it a short time 1 havo been restored to health, strength and vigor, which l still retain. I take great pleasure, sir, in mak ing known tho efficacy of your Anti-Dyspeptic Elixir, and sincerely hope it may be the means of in lacing others to go aud be benefited like myself. Very respectfully, Ac., HANNAH STILES. Tho “Elixir” is sold in bottles at $1 each, or six bottles for $5. Proprietor, JAMES WILLIAMS, M. SANFORD, Compounded entirely from Gums, f S ono of the best Purgatives and Liver Medicines X now before the public that actsait Cathartic, easier, milder, and more effectual than any other medicine known. It is not only a Cathartic, but a Liver remedy, acting first on tho Liver to eject its morbid matter, then on the stomach and bowels to carry off that matter, thus accomplishing two pur pose* effectually, without any of the painful fuel ing); experienced in the operation of most Cathar tic.-.. It strengthens the system at the same time that it purges it; and when taken daily in moder ate doses, will strengthen and build it up with unusual rapidity. The Liver is ono of 7A the principal regula tors of the human bo- J- dy; and when it per forms its functions i well, tlie powers aro fully developed. The [V> stomach is almost en tirely dependent on r the healthy action of the Liver for the per- j. formance of its func tions; when the stom- *y ach is at fault, tho bowels are at fault, £{ and tho whole system suffers in consequence of one organ—the Liver—having ceased r|i to do its duty. For the diseases of that •* organ, one cf the pro piietors has made ii his study, iu a practice of more than twenty years, to find somo remedy wherewith to counteract the many derangements to }v4 which it is liuble. To prove that this remedy is at last found, any person troubled with Liver Com plaint, in any of its H forms, has but to try a bottle, and conviction w is certain. These Gums remove u all morbid or bad mat ter from tho system, ta supplying in their place a healthy llow of (Ji bile, invigorating the stomach, causing food sto digest well, puri fying the blood. giving tone and health to the v. hole machine W ry, removing the cause of the disease—effect- L ing a radical cure. Bilious atracks are are cured, and, what is better, prevented, H by the occasional use of tho Liver Invigo- rator. One dose after eating J is sufficient to relieve the stomach and pre vent tho food from rising aud souring. * Only one dose taken , , before retiring, pre vents Nightmare. m Only ono dose taken at night, loosens the bowels gently, an and . . cures Costiveness. One dose taken after Ijj each meal will cure Dyspepsia. r* One dose of two tea-spoonfuls will al ways relieve Sick , , ;Headache. Ono bottle taken for *■ female obstruction re moves the cau.se of the , , disease, and makes a perfect cure. r? Only one doseimme- diateiy relieves Chol ic, while One dose, often re- 1 peated, is a sure cure for Cholera Morbus, O aud a preventive of Cholera. * Only ono bottle is needed to throw out of the system the effects H of medicine after a ioug sickness. One bottle taken for pi Jaundice removes all sallowncss or un- natural color from tho skin. One dose takon a /> short time before eat ing gives vigor to the, \J appetite, and makes food digest well. One dose often re- U peated, cures Chronic Diarrhcea in its worst forms, while Summer and Rowel complaints yield almost to the first dose. i One or two doses JS cures attacks caused by Worms iu Cliil r iren; there is no surer, safer, or speedier rem- edy in the world, as it never fails. lJ A few bottles cure* Dropsy, by exciting the absorbents. _ We take pleasure in Cj recommending this medicine as a proven- tive for Fever aud Ague, Chill Fevei, .. and all Fevers of a Bilious Type, ltoper- rp ates with certainty, and thousands are wil-! ling to testify to its wonderful virtues. j All who used it are giving their unanimous tes timony in its favor. tfjsrMix water in tho mouth with tho Invigora te r, and swallow both together. THE LIVER IN VIGOR, AT OR Isa Scientific Medical Discovery, and is daily work ing cures almost too groat for belief. It cures jis if by magic, even tho first dose giving benefit, and seldom more than one bottle is required to cure auy kind of Liver Complaint, from tho worst Jaun dice or Dyspepsia to a commou Headache, all of which aro the result of a DISEASED LIVER. THOMAS KENNY. MASTIC ROOFING COMPANY. RUSSELL’S PATENT. ’ S HIE Mastic Roof is, beyond a doubt, one of the E greatest inventions of the ago. In view of its low cost, (half tho price of tin,) easy applica tion, great durability and exact adaptation to any climate by its expansion and contraction through the influence of heat and cold, it does unquestiona bly, by far, excel any roofing now in use, slate not excepted. It can be readily applied to roofs ot every description, either steep or fiat, and is known to be better than anything ever before dis covered for Steamboat Decks, Bridge*, Rail Road Cars, Founderies, <fcc. It may be put over old Shingles without re moving them, and is far better than any Oil Faint* for metal roofs. New buildings require to be cov ered only with rough pine plank previous to tlie application of this article, and in cases of emer gency, a roof measuring twenty or even forty squares, may be covered iu a single day. Roofing done iu any section of the South, and rights sold lor using the same. All work will be warranted tight or no pay asked. Old Tin, Iron, Slate or Shingle Roofs made tight and warranted. We propose to roof, free of charge, one Car for each Rail Road Company in tho South, after that S2O and $25 will be charged. FREEMAN A HUBERTS, Macon, Ga. A. F. CHERRY, Augusta, Georgia.
