Her news is generally uninterest ing, as much of tho intelligence she brings was contemporaneously received at Charleston by the Isabel, from Havana. Texas. Tbe Galveston News, tbe 21st instant, furnishes tbe following intelligence: The train on the Harrisburg liuiiroau, ou Tucsday, brought 013 bales of cotton from tho San Bernard. Tho train cross ed tho Brazos river without making any stop, and this we learn is now usually tho case. Tho abovo cotton, we under stand, is the first that has been brought from tho Bernard, but there are many thousand bales to follow. We regret to learn of tbe death, yes terday, of Mr. Isaac D. Death of the Ellder Slniaril. The death of Napoleon Musard, tho foundor of the celebrated Promenade Con certs at Paris, is announced by the Saxo nia. M. Musard was born in 1789, and, devoting himself to music, became quite early in life a favorite leader of orches tras for balls and private assemblies.— His innumerable quadrilles had their era of oxtravagant fashion; tho “Galop Infer nal” having perhaps the widest populari ty of any modern composition of its clans, liis promenade toirecx were commenced in 1840, in the “Salle Vienne,” and contin ued with unabated success until a stroke of paralysis disabling bis nrm, obliged tho veteran leader to resign the baton. His closing years were spent quietly at Antruil, where ho has just breathed his last. M. Alfred Musard, whose profes sional visit to tho United States termina ted only a fortnight since, was a son of the deceased. A Female Robinson Crusoe. Mr. Kollogg of the Chicago Herald, has received a letter from Itacine, giving an account of the rescue of a young lady, named Richardson—who was cast away on an Island in Lake Superior, three years ago. The letter states that she was a passenger on board the schooner Ozelle, MarviD, Master, and that she was on her way to meet her affianced husband, when tho vessel was wrecked on the shore of the island alluded to, and she was the only person saved. Sho has remained there three years in all, subsisting upon tho provisions that were thrown ashore from the wreck by tho waves. She is now on her way to Cleveland, where sho will bo received as one risen from tho dead. The story has a whale-like odor, and the fact of tho news being first seen in the Chicago Herald does not add any special credibility to it. Arrest on a Charge of Kidnapping a Negro. On Friday last Georgo Kennedy was brought beforo Justices Shuptrine and Greene, on a charge of kidnapping a ne gro boy. the property of Thomas G. An drews, Esq. Tbe evidence was sufficient to justify the Justices in sending Kennedy to jail in default of bail, to answer before the Superior Court. On Saturday last Charity Reed, a widow woman, was brought beforo Messrs. Shuptrine and Greene, as a principal in kidnapping and harboring the same negro. She gave bail. Mrs. R. is said to be xeventy-four yean nf age, and she now has four sons in tho Georgia Penitentiary. “The way of the transgressor is hard.” Mr. Andrews has not as yet obtained possession of his slave.— Upton Pilot, 18fA instant.
