AN INFALLIBLE Remedy for Diseased Eyes. ‘lMilri wonderful preparation was discovered by X Dr Cook when reduced almost to despair by the failure of all the remedies prescribed by the Physicians and Opticians of tho age; and its miraculous effects, in restoring his own vision, and tho great success which has uttended its ap plication in a large number of cases—NEVER FAILING TO GIVE RELIEF and affect a cure when persisted in—induces him to lay it before the public, m order that its merits may be tested, and all who aro suffering from diseased Eyes be enabled to obtain relief. The “MEDICATED VAPOR” is u Purely Scientific Compound! Very simplnand harmless in its Application, but a most POWKKFUL REMEDIAL AGENT; and after having boon extensively used in the treatment of Diseased Eyes, is confidently recommended as tho MOM’ fcPKKDY and RELIABLE REMEDY in canes of Acute and Chronic upthulmia, incipient Cataract, Amorosis, Btaplyloma, Ac., ever pre terite and. It is also an invaluable remedy for Nervous Headache, Neuralgia of tho Eye and Face—dis eases which have heretofore resisted all medical bkill. , It has also been tested in several cases of Total Blindness with such wonderful success, be is iu d not'd to believe that no case should be pronounced incurable us long as one spark of vitality remains hi the eye. The Medicated Vapor is a local remedy, and appeals directly to tho parts affected—promotes absorption, and by Us poweiful tonic properties, in fuses new life and vigor into the nerves that have become impaired by disease, aud enables the Eye to re-act and regain its former healthful tone aud action. Those medicinal virtues, combined with the neat uud portable form in which it is put up, render It the most con voniont and efficacious remedy for diseases of the Eye ever before offered to the public. Dlt. COBK has many certificates to prove tho truth of tho above statements, but does not deem It necessary to publish them, knowing the want of con fid vu co in such things unless the public are acquainted with the parties and all tho circuin static, m. A meeting was held in Boston on I burs day lust, to receive the report of a com mittee appointed to solicit subscriptions for tho establishment of a line of steamers from Boston to Savannah or Charleston. The amount requisite was stated to be $200,000, and the committee reported that they had secured subscriptions to the amount of $150,000, and if the com pany cbose to make Savannah their South ern terminus, they had tho promise of subscriptions to the amount of $25,000 from that cily, leaving $16,000 to be made up by Boston. Whereupon Mr. Abbot Lawrence proposed that tho re quired amount be mude up on the spot, and the sum of $16,000 was soon sub scribed, making $175,000 for Boston, and relying on Charleston or Savannah for the $20,060. It seems undetermined, at present, which of the two Southern ports is to he made the terminus, but it seems to us worthy of nn effort on tho part of either to secure the increased trade, and the enterprise is in that condition that it can bo secured to the port which sub scribes most liberally, and presents the greatest inducements. As soon as the $25,000 is supplied, the Company is to be organized aud commence operations. — Aui/uita Dispatch. ♦ A C hinese Wedding. Three carriages were drawn up In front of tho moon-eyed bride’s resi dence, on Jackson street, which were soon filled by the dusky-skinned, pug nosed, fiat faced bride and bridegroom, with their wrinkled, parchment-fleshed ’ parents and friends. The bridal cortege trotted on at a brisk pace, and followed by a largo crowd of laughing ’Melican men, to Sacramento street, where the nuptial party dismounted, and the matri monial knot was tied in the Chinese Chapel, literally, for the ceremony was performed by the knotting together of the man’s pig tail and the womaii’s fat besmeared hair.— San Francisco National. - ♦ It is stated that Thackeray, the author, bas contracted with anew London Maga zine to writo a talc, in twenty numbers, for £5,000.
