THE DAILY SUN. Thursday Morning, Sept. 29, IHS9. - = .= Morchants’ Shipping Bocoipls. Anew supply, Just from iho binder’s lmnds neatly ruled and well bound, for sale lit tlio SUN OFFICE. ♦ sicw Advertisements. The attention of every boiiy is directed to tiro advertisement of Messrs. Hull, Duck to he found in its jiroper place. These gentlemen have u large und varied stock of goods of all descrip tions on .hand, as they advertise, and we imagine it would be diflicult for a person to call for an urticlo with which they could not supply them. Theirs’ is an other of those mixod stocks where the planter cun supply himself entirely, with out having to run about to make little bills. Give them a call. Messrs. Wells, CurtiS'&C’o. have a store house for rent. Call also, at Hunter’s and get each one of your children a pair of those copper * toped shoes. They are just the thing for these hard times. Our old friend Hartman is still at his post ready, willing uud waiting (some times) to attend to customers in his line. Dr. J. P. Hoyt will open his school on Monday next. See his advertisement. To day and to morrow being Koshhash one, or Jewish New Year, tho Israelites of our town will close up their business houses. Divine service will be held at their Synagogue, corner Forsyth and Crawford streets, during the forenoon and in the evening. ■ ——♦ Kiddle's Gallery—Mr. J. K. Sanders. The indefatigable ltiddle, who once re sisted the temptation of a flattering in ducement and prospect in New York, for the more satisfactory emoluments afford ed by his “ own sweet Southern home,” has now everything complete and ready to transfer to canvas, &c., in any style, the “ human face divine.” Mr. J. R. Sanders, whose coming was sometime ago announced, has at length arrived. lie has, we are glad to learn, become an adjunct to this establishment. Ilis time and talents have been devoted principally to the school of portraiture, though he is, by no means, inferior in landscape painting. The time spent by him in Italy, was devoted to the close study of his profession, and especially to that branch, to which he has applied himself. We have been long familiar with the reputation of Mr. Sanders as a .portrait painter in Alabama and Missis sippi, and from our knowledge of it, cor dially welcome him as a resident of Co lumbus. We assure him that the soul necessary to appreciate— ■ ** the art that immortalizes Tho art which baffles time’s tyrannic claim to quench it, will be met with as frequently hero, as in any city of similar pretensions, in the South. Canada will not Support a Tlirone. Speaking of the expected visit of the Prince of Wales to Canada, The Toronto Leader significantly remarks: “His Roy al Highness will receive all the respect due to an heir of the English throne, and the son of a constitutional sovereign, whose reign has been marked by a series of practical reforms. On his part, he visits this country with‘the full knowl edge that, from its position, it can never support a throne for any of his numer ous family, and that this loyal people will one day—it may not be far distant—march quietly to national independence. But even when that day comes, it will be a matter of real satisfaction and just pride to England that she lias given her mas culino language, her just laws and her free principles to a second nation in the New World. And in that feeling of pride and satisfaction it will not be beneath a constitutional sovereign to share.” Georgia Made Kail Koad Iron. Wo learn from the Griffin Empiro State that eleven car loads of rail road iron passed through that place, a day or so ago, on tho Macon & Western Road, ship ped from the Atlanta Rolling Mill to some point below. We have noticed some of this iron passing up tho State Road, and it will compare favorably with any we ever saw. Every year Georgia is becom ing more independent, and in a very few years more she will be able to manufac ture everything she needs. Her mineral wealth is inexhaustible—indeed Bhe has every clement to make her a groat State, and we long to sec the day when she will not have to look to the North for any thing—when she will manufacture her own goods—when she can, in truth, be called not only the “Empire State of the South,” but of the Union. —Dalton limes. The Aurora Borealis. Accounts from all quarters indicate that the late displays of the Aurora ex tended over a very largo portion of the earth’s surface, from beyond the Canadas to tho Gulf of Mexico ami the West Indi an islands—probably over the largerjpart of the North American coDtinont—and Eastward es far, at least ns tho Western coast of Europe. It was seen in England on the morning of the 20th of August, a tirno correspon ding with our midnight display of tho 28th, and showing what has been fre quently observed, that these phenomena oeour simultaneously in places widely separated. ’ wants! JOB MOSES, Sole Proprietor, Rochester, N. Y. For sale, iu Columbus, at the Drug Stores of J. A. WHITESIDE & CO., AGEE & IVERSON, mhl6-eowly and by all respectable Druggists Caution.—The article of Whisky now so well known as “Daly’s Aromatic Valley Whisky,” i has established a reputation so universal as ren ders it difficult for the maufacturer to keep pace with the demand. This is the iesult of perse vering energy in its introduction, sustained by a determination adopted at the outset, and never for an instant departed from, that its original purity j and excellence should continue to the end. The common fate, attendant upon all such suc cessful efforts, has overtaken tho manufacturer. It is imitated by unscrupulous imposters, arid an inferior and spurious article is palmed off upon the community, to the great detriment of the pub- j lie as well as injury to tho manufacturer, both in j emolument and woll-earnod reputo. Every effort i has boen made to guard against this piracy by a ! Copyright of the Label, and by peculiar shape of tho bottle. I caution the public against this imposition upon t them and upon my rights, and I earnestly desire I such information from those who may possess it, j by having been victimized or otherwise, as will enable me to protect tho public and myself by prosecution to tho utmost extent of tho law’. The , genuine “Daly’s Aromatic Valley Whisky ’* is put up In cases of 12 bottles each, with light yel low Label, und sealed with yellow wax, with the proprietor’s stamp ou tho wax, uud fae simile *lg nature of the proprietor ou tho label. All other articles are imitations. Consumers can depend upon getting a pure arti cle when they buy tho Valley Whisky, as it is sold by tho bottle and cubo only. WM. 11.
