—have the pleasure to announc*ito the reading
public that they have made an EXCLUSIVE en
gagement with an Author whose powerful Stoiies
have of late attracted great attention; and that
they will open the year 1860 with a novelet, writ
ten expressly for the. lhst, called
THE EARL’S DAUGHTERS.
By the author of **The Bed Court Farm.” “The
Rock,” tho “Hester Ilalliwell” stories, “The Six
Gray Powders,” “The Diamoud Bracelet,” Ac., Ac.
In this story, written exprensly for the Post,
this powerful writer’s genius has had full scope
atlorded it; nnd we are able lo state—having read
it in manuscript, for it is already in hand—that it
will make a sensation, unless we are greatly mis
taken, as one of the most powerful and interesting
stories ever publinhed.
To enable those unacquainted with THE POST
to judge of the richness and variety of its general
coutents, we may stato that dm ing tho past year
wo have published novelets, stories, poems, essays,
Ac., froui the pens of the following gifted writers:
G. P. It. James, Mary Ilowitt,

THE POST does not confine itself, however, to
works of the imagination, as to many Weeklies
now do. It. generally devotes a fair portion of its
ample space to the News of the week, foreign nnd
domestic, to letters from Paris, toau Agricultural
Department, to Bank Note and Stock Lists, and to
a weekly and accurate Price Current of the Pro

DALY’S
AROMATIC VALLEY
“WHISKY.
IN tliis age of adulterated and deleterious Li
quors, it is a source of satisfaction to be able
to introduce to public notice the abovo article—an
article of uuques’ioned purity, and poeteesing no
qualities except such as have tho most favotable
influence on the human constitution
A few rods of soil on the banks of the Rhine
produces the grape which will flourieh nowhere
else, from whose juice proceeds the “Johaunis
berg.” the choicest wine in the world.
A few acres of land in Cuba produees a tobacco,
the flavor aud quality of which when manufac
tured into cigars, aie incomparably superior to
that ot any other soil.
Ami a narrow strip of land iu the parish of
Xatchitochee, in Louisiana, lia- long supplied the
world with a super-excellent article of snuff from
such tobacco as cannot be iuduced to grow else
where.
In like manner it lias long beeu known that a
limited territory, lying in the valley < f the &lo
nonguhela river, exclusively brings forth a rye of
properties so marked and peculiar that its distilla
tion produces a Whisky of such superlative char
acter as places it beyond rivalry
By a process recently disco and now known
only to my manufacturer, tLj grain from the
choicest spot of this favored locality is made to
y ield the
Aromatic Valley Whisky,
with which no other can stand an instunt's com
parison.
I have no apprehension of being accused of pub
lishing unwariuutuhlc, or even exaggerated enco
miums, to any who will first subject my Whisky
to tl’Ft.
It is now the standard article at all the first
class Hotels and Clubs in the city of New York,
and wherever it in introduced it at once assumes
its leading portion, is
AWARDED THE PALM OF SUPERIORITY,
and the demand for it becomes a thing established.
Its medicinal properties are euch.thut while its
immediate effects are pleasant aud grateful, it ex
ercises the happiest pennuueut influence upon tbs
constitution.
I Imve analyzed a eauiple of “llaly'e Aromatic
Valley Whisky,’’ and flu I it to he a purr article, nt’
