S N this ugo of adulterated and deleterious Li- JL quors, it is a source of satisfaction to be able to introduce to public notice the above article—an article of uuqueslioued purity, and possessing no qualities except such as have the most favoiablo influence on the human constitution. A few rods of soil on tho hanks of the Rhine produces the grape which will flourish nowhere else, from whoso juice proceeds the “Jolianuis borg,” tho choicest wine iu tho world. A few acres of land iu Cuba produces a tobacco, the flavor aud quality of which, wheu manufac tured into cigars, hie incomparably superior to that of any other soil. Aud a narrow stiip of land in tho parish of Natchitochee, in Louisiana, has long supplied the world w ith a super-excellent article of snuff, from such tobacco us cannot be induced to grow else where. In like manner it has long been known that a limited territory, lying in the valley of the Mo uougahela river, exclusively brings forth a rye of properties so marked aud peculiar that its distilla tion produces a Whisky of such superlative char acter uh places it beyond rivalry. By a process recently discovered, aud now known only to my manufacturer, the grain from tho choicest spot of this favored locality is made to y ield the Aromatic Valley Whisky, with w hich no other can stand an instant’s com parison. I have no apprehension of being accused of pub lishing unwarrantable, or even exaggerated enco miums, to any who will first subject my Whisky to lest. It is now tlo standard article at all the first class Hotels and Clubs iu the city of Now York, aud wherever it is introduced it at once assumes its leading position, is AWARDED THE PALM OF SUPERIORITY, and the demand for It becomes a thing established. Its medicinal properties are such, that while its immediate effects aro pleasant and grateful, it ex ercisesthe happiest permanent influence upon the constitution. I have analyzed a sample of “Duly’s Aromatic Valley Whisky,” and find it to be a pure article, of flue flavor, and without any deleteiious admix ture. JAMES B. CHILTON, M. D., Chemist. Washington, Dec. 24.—The Senate was not in session to-day. Iu the House there were several speeches made on both sides, before they proceeded to vote for a Speaker. One hundred and four were necessary to a choice. Tho ballot resulted thus: John Sherman, of Ohio 100 John A. Gilmer, of 14. C 17 G. S. Houston, of Ala 17 The remainder scattering. The House then adjourned. The Yacht Wanderer. Boston, Dee. 24.—The yacht Wander er, Capt. Welton, arrived here from Flo res. Welton reports that the Wanderer sailed from Savannah in charge of Mr. Martin, for Africa, for slaves. The yacht touched at Fiores and took aboard two Portuguese women; nnd Martin subse quently went ashore for provisions, tak ing with him the chronometer and charts. In bis (Martin’s) absence, Welton and the mate sailed for the coast of America. Welton states that he was carried off against his will, and that Martin’s real name is Lincoln I’. Patten, from Bath, Maine. The yacht is in charge of the U. S. Marshal. Supply of Cotton. In noticing the annual cotton state ment the London Daily News says the amount sent to England in 1859 was 2,015,000 bales, an increase of over 200,- 000 hales ns compared with the same pe riod of 1853. The annual increase of the yield has run from three to four per cent, whilst the price is now only a single far thing per pound above the price of the very abundant year 1850. The writer proceeds to show that other countries, not England, will reap the greater portion of the benefit arising from an increased supply and adds: The consumption of cotton in Europe, excluding England, is about 448,900,000 pounds, while the consumption of Eng land is not twice as much. Abroad, too, the consumption is increasing very fast. Since 1844 our exports of cotton thither have increased more than three-fold, viz: from 431,650 cwts to 1,635,790 cwts in 1858. It is, however, plain from these figures that Great Britain, though still tlie largest consumer of cotton, is by no means the only consumer, and that any increase of the raw material and aDy reduction in its price will be equally to the advantage of all the cotton manufac turing countries of Europe aDd the world. to Passengers!
