THE DAILY SUN. OFFICIAL JOURNAL OF THE CITY. Thursday Morning* March !i3. Register Your Letters. We request all persons making remittances to our office to have their letters containing the same registered. Unless such is done, we will not be accountable for monies lost by mail. Remember, registered letters are at our risk. The River Bride. A dispatch from Capt. Pcndergast at Chattahoochee, states that the steamer lliver Bride will arrive here this evening. — New AdvertUcnuuli We would refer our renders to the new advertisements genet ally. They will re ceive special attention to morrow. The Itnllnu Opera Troupe. An advertisement auuounces authori tatively that the l’arodi Italian Opera Troupe will commence a series of three entertainments in this city, commencing Monday evening, the 20lh. We will re cur to this subject again to-morrow. ■ - ♦ The gin house of Mr. John P. Kiley, in the eastern part of Muscogee county, was burned down a little before day last Tuesday morning. It had no cotton in it at the time, hut contained a large amount of cotton seed aud peas. Loss, about four hundred dollars. The fire is supposed to havo been the work of an incendiary. 6. W. Atktuson tk. Cos. Elsewhere will he found about a col umn of information of interest to the la dies especially, and not entirely desti tute of importance to the opposite sex. The many fine aud nice things aud novel ties in the way of Spring goods, &c., will be found enumerated in the advertise ments, to which we invite tho attention of our readers generally. Thoso who are posted in the important item of knowing what to buy aud where to buy it, are reg ular readers of the papers ; and those who disseminate this important informa tion are those who give publicity to their business through the papers. Capt. Lams-Correction. In the Sun of Wednesday morning, we Dated the election of Thomas Larus as Captain of the “Montgomery Cadets,” and stated that he was formerly Ist Lieu tenant of the “Columbus Guards.” Our statement was based on the authority of the Mail, and as we have since ascer tained, was incorrect. Capt. Larus never held a commissioned office in the Colum bus Guards during his residence here, and we are not informed that he ever held any office in the Company. Since writing the above wo see a correction in the Mail, which says the company mentioned should have been “City Light Guards” instead of “Columbus Guards.” Theatre—Tuesday Eveatug. “Margot, the Poultry Dealer” and the Comedy of the “Four Sisters,” were pre sented to a very good and an appreciative audience Tuesday evening. Miss Maggie Mitchell always forms a just appreciation of tho author’s wit, which she rarely fails to bring out in perfection. Her perform ances were interspersed with dances, and one or two beautiful songs—sweetly sung. Messrs. Donaldson, Wright, Fuller, Lewis, and Mesdames Scott and Grattan sustained their particular parts with con siderable credit —iu fact this Company is by long odds the best that ever has visi ted the city. Mr. Fleming has exerted himself, and has done more than could have been ex pected of him to cater to the amusement of the community, and withal is a pleas ant and very gentlemanly man. We trust tho patrons of the drama will testify their appreciation of his efforts by a large turn out to-night and the remainder of the week. The play of the “Marble Heart” will be presented this evening, and a full house may be expected. Sale at tUe Oglethorpe Corner. Tho sale of the largo and beautiful as sortment of Frcuch Porcelain, Bohemian Glass, Silver Plated Ware, &c , &e., was commenced yesterday by Harrison & Pitts, at the Oglethorpe corner, lately oc cupied by J. Stovell. The collection of China is a magnificent one, aud the same may be said of the Bohemian, French Crystal Glass and the Silver Plated Ware. We saw several ladies present who did some spirited bidding when the China sets were pui up, and as there are “a few moro left of tho same sort” we apprehend they will turn out again to day. The sale will be resumed at 10 o’clock this forenoon at the same place. All who want bargains should attend. Unit Practice. Wo beg to allude to a very improper custom in which most of tho audience in dulge on the occasion of entertain ments, and especially those of the Thea trical company at Temperance Hall.— We allude to the practice of getting up and going out just before the conclusion of the play If it is worth listening to at all, it is worth while to hear the conclu sion. Moreover, It is disagreeable to a part of the audience, and must be exceed ingly annoying to the actor. Those who do so, do it thoughtlessly, and evidently without intending any interruption, and wo hope it will not ho repeated for the future. ♦ —— Mayor's Court—March, 1800. CALVIN STARTTON,CIerk. ! Bogus Lottery—At tempt to Swindle. The following letter received by a gen- I tleman of this city, from probably a ficti tious individual, who represents himself to be tho agent for the Delaware State Lotteries, will explain itself: Dr\r. Sin: Wishing to ex tend my bu siness in your section of country, by send ing a handsome prize to somo one living there, 1 offer you the refusal of a certi ficate of a package of eighths of tickets in the Delaware State Lottery, class 130, to bo drawn on Tuesday, March 110th. (See full list of prizes enclosed.) 1 have only a few packages left over in this grand Lottery, and as I have never sent a prize to your neighborhood, 1 hope to send a good one now ; a rare opportu nity is offered to you of coming iu ; osscs sion of a splendid fortune. The amount necessary to send me for the certificate is only $lO, and there are twenty-five lucky tickets in it, that may draw over thirty thousand dollars. To bliow my faith it, 1 promise that if the certificate I send you does not draw at least one thousand dollars over the amount paid for it, 1 will giveyo'u another certi ficate in one of the extra $5,000 lotteries for nothing. Send me $lO by return mail, when I will forward tho certificate, and depend upon it, you never put $lO to better use. I will send a Dank draft payable to your order, for the amount the certificate draws. Enclosed find an envelope with my ad dress on, to put your letter in. Please let me hear from you immediate ly. Very sincerely, James Fletcheh. On receipt of the above tempting com munication, the gentleman in question, addressed a letter to the Postmaster in Baltimore, who forwarded the letter to the Postmaster at Wilmington. The fol lowing is the answer of the letter which shows that lottery tickets are not sold in Maryland, and moreover, that the Agen cy of James Fletcher is a bogus and swin dling concern : Post Office, Wilmington, Del. \ March 9,18G0. / Dear Sir : The Postmaster at Delaware forwards me yours of sth inst., to bo an swered. Selling lottery tickets now in Maryland is illegal and criminal. France, Broad bents & Cos., wore formerly the proprie tors of the Maryland Grant, and now own that of Delaware, their office being at Wilmington. They sell no tickets now in Maryland, nor is any person author ized to sell for them. J. M. Winchester, Special Ag’t. P. O. Department. For the gun. Capt. Lams of Montgomery Cadet*. Eds Sun: —ln the Montgomery Mail of the 20th in9t., I notice a statement that Capt. Larus of the Montgomery Cadets, was formerly 2d Lieutenant of the City Light Guards of this city. For atatOHmen, JudgCH, Clergymen, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, in all parts of the world, testify to the efficacy of Prof. O. J. A few testimo nials only can ho here given; see circular for more, and it will he impossible for you to doubt. 47 Wall Street, New York, ) Dec 20th,1868. / Gentlemen : Your note of the 16th inst. has been received, saying that you had heard that I had boeirbem fitted by the useof Wood's lialr Restora tive, and requesting my certificate of the fact if I had no objection to give it. l award it to you cheerfully, because I think it duo. My age is about 60 years; the color of my hair auburn, aud inclined to curl. Some five or six years since it began to turn gray and tho scalp on thii crown ol my head to lose its sensibility and dandruff to form upon it. Eacii of these disagreea bilitio* increased witli time, aud about four months since a fourth was added to them, by hair falling oil the top of my head and threatening to make me bald. iu tbia unpleasant predicament, I was induced to try Wood’s Hair Restorative, mainly to arrest the falling off of my hair, for I had really no ex pectation that gray hair could ever be restored to its original color, except from dyes. I was, how ever, greatly surprised to find, after tho use of two bottles only, that not only was the falling off arrested, but tho color was restored to the gray bitira and sensibility to the scalp, aud dandruff ceased to form on my head, very much to the gratification of my wifi-,at whose solicitation I was induced to try it For this, among tiie many obligations Lowe to her ►ex, I strongly (bcommend ull husbands who value tiie admiration of their wives, to profit by my example, und use it if growing gray or getting bald.
