Fifteen Days Later. From the K. Y. Com. Advertiser Aug. 19. The Cambria did not arrive at her dock in East Boston yesterday, until some time after I the different railroad lines had left for this city. I an(l vve have accordingly no details of the news beyond that furnished by the telegraph. By Telegraph. Boston. August 18th, 1847.—The Cambria reached the dock 15 minutes past 5 o’clock. Some parcels of Indian corn which had been slightly heated, but re stored, were yesterday sold by auction at 255. per quarter, and some Western canal flour at 21s, 6d. a 235, 6d. per barrel, but the transac tions were generally unimportant. The above is the result of yesterday’s market and shows a serious decline in the value of breadstuff's. A panic has decidedly taken place, accelerated by the gradual downward tendency of the lute London markets, the highly favorable state of the home crops and the stiffness of the money market. In the London corn market on Monday a re duction upon wheat of Bs. a 10s. per quarter took place. We have no quotations to give of yesterday’s transactions. Cotton. —Fair upland 7* pence per lb. Those for the week ending 30th were 18,130 bales, of which 2700 were for speculation, and 1000 for export. The transactions for the last three days, ended yesterday evening, were about 18,500 bales, 6000 of which were for speculation and export. The stock in port is estimated at 410,000 bales against 760,000 at the same period lust season. The market had been languid for ten days preceding the arrival of the steamer of the 16th ult., with a decline of *d. per lb., but since then the market has ac quired more firmness and the decline has par tially recovered. Commercial and Financial. —A painful sensa tion has taken place in the money market since the departure of the last steamer, which in a greater or less degree has affected every branch of trade and manufactures, and for some days the funds have been in a very unsettled state, and though speculation has not gone to the ex tent which it was apprehended it would, the financial condition of the country may be said to be a state of the most painful uneasiness. The Manchester business has for the last few days been of a very limited character, and if the monetary embarrassment continues, in creased distress will be the inevitable conse quence. Although the funds were in a state of unusual fluctuation last week, they have this week opened with great firmness, but how long that position will be maintained it is hard to predict. The price of consols opened on Monday at 88} a | for money, from which they advanced to 88| a I in consequence of .he fall in the corn market. In the course of the day the Bank of England annuuneed an increased scale of dis counts, which caused an immediate fall of one half per cent, from which at the close of busi ness there was no rally. The last money price was 88* a but for account they opened at 89 a * —from which they receded to 88| a— Bank stoce left off at 196* a 198 ; thera was no material change yesterday. Packet Ships Arrived. —The royal mail steam er Caledonia arrived in the Mersey on the morning of the 28th of July. July 20—Chaos, Wilson; 21st, Garrick,Trask; 22d, Glenmore, Clark; Sardinia, Crocker; 29th, Montezuma, Lowber. General Intelligence. —Parliament has been dissolved, and the new elections are proceeding vigorously. So far as the returns have been made, they show a complete triumph for the free trade principles. Lord John Russell has been re-elected from the city of London. The prospect of the harvest continues unex ceplionably encouraging, and every where promises a most abundant yield. It lias begun in several of the Southern coun ties. The crops of wheat, oats and Barley are universally healthy; and the potato, notwith standing all that has been said about the reap pearance of the disease of last year, is affected but to a ve’y insignificant extent. Reports from Ireland are equally glowing.— Famine and disease are rapidly vansihing in Ireland, but. by a strange anomaly, outrage still continues rife. The accessions of the pre lacy, priesthood and gentry of the country to the Old Ireland party are large, and the weekly contributions steadily increase. It is expected that a large proportion of re pealers will be returned to the Imperial Par liament at this election. The remains of Mr. O’Connell were embark ed at Birkenhead for Dublin on Sunday, where they arrived on the following day. Several heavy failures have occurred in the corn trade, and many others ofa serious char acter are apprehended. A formidable conspiracy, of the most diaboli cal character, has beendetectcd at Rome. The object of the conspirators, who amounted to several hundreds in number, was to massacre the citizens and remove the Pope to Naples by force. Five Cardinals, with exalted civil and military offices, have been discovered to have been abettors. Popular feeling has become more tranquil in France. The King was well received by the people on the celebration of the glorious three days. The Chamber of Deputies is about to be dis solved. Several sanguinary battles have been fought between the Russians and Circassians —the former bring defeated with considerable loss. Switzerland is threatened with a revolution. Lander-a-band, or Catholic league, have armed themselves, but are likely to be suppresssed. Mr. Walter, the celebrated proprietor of the London Times, died last week. The Wesleyan Conference commenced I their sittings at Liverpool on Wednesday lest. The Rev. Samuel Jackson was elected Presi dent. “ The telegraphic despatch adds that Lord John Russell will form a new Cabinet; but of what this means, unless there is some expecta tions of bringing in Sir Robert Peel and form ing a coalition Ministry, we must be content to remain in ignorance until to-morrow.” In addition to the above, the Herald has re. received by telegraph the following communi cation, which it says is a copy of the circuarl of Messrs, Baring, Brothers and Co. LONDON, Tuesday, August 3, 1847.—Since our p-inted advices of the 19th alt., per Hibernia, the weather has continued favorable, and h arve ,las commenced in all the Southern counties. Money has increased in value, discounts at the bank being o percent, for short paper and 6 per cent, for long. Trade generally continues languid, and we have very few changes to advise. Cochineal has ruled flat, and prices generally are about 2d. per lb. lower. Cotton not brisk ; holders are firm, and the daily sales at Liveapyol are to a fair extent, and at full prices. Corn continued heavy. Arrivals from abroad and fine weather have caused a great dullness and a re • U j-rt- n *? even at our reduced quotations, it is difficult to effect sales. For Breadstuff’s the following are the nearest com parative prices, but must be considered nominal: U. . . red wheat, 575. toSSs. per Imperial quarter ; U. S. white wheat, 58s. to63s. per imperial quarter. U. S. Flour, 30s. to 31s, per bbl. Inferior and sour U. S. Indian corn, 355. to 40s. per 480 lbs. U. S. barley, 2os. to 30s. per imperial quarter. English Iron continues in good demand without change in prices. Swedish remains dull; it is offer ed at £ll ss. per ton. We quote Scotch pigs at Glasgow at 70s. per ton. Transactions in American Stocks have been very limited ; New York is as well as the bonds of the Consolidated Association of Planters of Louis lan®- Some sales of Pennsylvania have been made at 69 per cent., but in general our quotations are nominal. Alabama fives, 54 to 60 ; do. sterling 57 to 62 ; In -1 dlana fiv e s , 38 to 41 ; Illinois 40 to 44 ; Kentucky, 90 1 to 93 ; Louisiana U. 8., 1850, 52, 80 to 83 ex-divi dend ; Louisiana Consolidated Association, 82 to 85 ; Massachusetts sterling, 99 to 101 ; Maryland fives sterling 69 to 71 ex-Coupons; do. dollar sixes, 80; Mississippi Planters 50 to 53; do. The Missouri. From telegraphic de spatches, received last evening from Boston, it appears that the French mail steamer Missouri, which left Cherbourg on the 31st of July, was spoken on the 14 Lb iust. by the British revenue cutler Daring, Capt. Darby. At that time the Missouri had been out of coal for forty-eight hours, but Capt. Darby succeeded in getting a supply from a Sydney brig in the vicinity.and the steamer then headed for Halifax, where she arrived the next day at 6 P. M. The Missouri had on board 26 cabin and 65 steerage passengers. Her mails, it is said, w ere hrough on to Boston by the Cambria. She was to leave Halifax on the evening of the 16th.— N. Y. Com.
