Sonth to obtain the subscription of stock there It is evident that your city is most deeply in terested in the trade and commerce which rnu*i find its way along onr road when completed, and we indulge the confident expectation that an appeal to your citizens will he most liberal ly responded to in the way ofefficient and sub stantial aid to the work. Be pleased, therefore, to make known to yonr citizens that a delegation from our com pany will be in Savannah within ten or twelve days, as we expect to leave here at farthest, by the 6th inst. Accept assurances of my respectful regard, T. Nixon Vax Dm. verponl letter says ; —**lt may not be generally known in America that serious dam age often arises from cotton being shipped on board vessels partly laden with Indian corn; the steam arising from the latter no* only dam age* the bagging but penetrates the cotton it self, and its great heat destroys the staple.— The greener the corn is at the time ofshipmeut the greater, of course, the injury. Special Notices. TO THE THEATRICAL PUBLIC OP AUGUSTA. It having been represented to Mis* Clara r.i.us that some reports bad been put in circulation relative to the circumstance of her not playing for Mr. Ward a benefit last Thursday, tending to preju dice her in the mind of the public, whose confidence and favors it has ever been her proudest and most earnest endeavor* to obtain. Mias Clara Ellis, having no relative to contradict such unfounded ru mors, has only the alternative of continuing to buffer from unjust censure, or thus publicly offer an expla nation. In Mr. Ward’s engagement with Miss E. it was expressly stipulated that bis name was to be put up lor a Benefit on the third night of her management — Saturday, May 4th. Tins, when the lime came, Mr. W ard objected to do, and, for his own purposes, held it in reserve till Miss E.’s term of management had expired. He then indirectly proposed to “ enter in to some arrangement” for Miss K, to play on that night, and after he opened the Theatre—which Miss E. declined. She had kept tier treaty with him strictly to the letter, and when he broke his, of course all confidence had vanished. When it is taken into consideration that Miss E. paid the Messrs. Ward and Mrs. Ward far, very far, more than otic third the gross receipts of her four nights manage ment, and had not herself cleared one dollar for her services, it cannot he alleged they had any cause to complain. Possessed of a strong constitution naturally, I had enjoyed perfect health previous to tlio spring of 1813, when I was iron Died with a difficulty in my loft side, attended with considerable pain. Sometime in July I was violently attacked with a cough, which continued until fall; then I was confined to the house eight months, during which my cough was very se vere. I frequently had spells of coughing which lasted two hours; daily raised large quantities of dis agreeable mailer, accompanied with blood. Some times I raised a quart of blood at a time. 1 consulted three physicians, all of whom did their best to restore me; gave me up; said they could do no more for me ; 1 must die; it was impossible for me to live but a short time. One of them said my lungs were gone. At this critical moment, when eminent physicians had exhausted thetr skill, friends despaired of my life, my own liojte of recovery at an end, I resorted to Dr. Wlstar’s Babniti of WlldCherry. When I had taken one and a half bottles those se vere spells of coughing were removed. I continued taking the Balsam until spring, 1844, when I ceased to bleed at the lungs, my health and strength un proved so that I left the house, but was not able to work for a year. Now my health is good. lam able to do a day’s work every day on my farm. James Comery. Witness, Thomas Benner. For particulars, see Dr. W’istar’s treatise on Con sumption, to be hud of the agents. IMPORTANT TO THE AFFLICTED. A 3IONG THE MANY DISCOVERIES rm. which are adding to the blessings of the present generation, the undersigned confidenily assures the public that he has discovered a remedy for that dread ful disease called Cancer, hitherto deemed incurable. The origin of the remedy was in his own case, which, almost against hope, he succeeded in curing, after many trials of other remedies without success. He i has been using the same reined)' now for sLv years , and in all cases successfully', when application was made in time. He considers it injudicious, perhaps improper, to boast of his treatment, or to make pro | mises beyond any possible performance, far there are cases so far gone as to be incurable; but he invites the afflicted to consult Mr. L. C. SERVICE, and it ! he shall satisfy them of his ability to make cures, they can then try his remedy. Mr. Service is in possession of all the knowledge , 1 have ns regards this remedy. I have disposed of | my reeipe to him. BURNHAM SHEPARD. The underigned can be found at all times at the Drug Store of Wm.
