By this arrival we have intelligence that will be heard with regret by all the friends of Hun gary, and of civil freedom and human rights throughout the civilized world. Our dispatch announces that the Hunga rians have at length been totally defeated, and have submitted to their conquerors . Liverpool Market. The Niagara arrived at Halifax on Wednes day morning—from Liverpool the 25th. The accounts from Hungary are most dis astrous. The Hungarians have been defeated at all points. Georgey, with 27,000 men, and sixty guns, had surrendered to Paskiewitch’s army. He is accused of having been bribed. Kossuth, it is said, has determined to hold out. His family are in the hands of the Rus sians. The details are, however, very contra dictory. Business in ail branches of trade had been steady during the week. The accounts from the manufacturing dis tricts continued satisfactory. Harvest operations generally continued fa vorable. Corn Market. The Grain trade was dull, with a downward tendency. American White Wheat is quoted at 7s. 2d.; Red 6s. 2d. to 6s. 4d. Flour has slightly de clined—sound Western Canal 235. 6d. a 245.; Baltimore and Ohio 245. 6d. a 255. The unfavorable advices from the United States and India, caused an advance in all de scriptions of Colton of £d. On Wednesday, the market became weak, and the advance was barely maintained. The Committee quote Fair Upland s§d. ; Fair Mobile s|d.; Fair Or leans s§d. The sales of the week summed up 77,000 bales—of which speculators took 33,000 bales, and exporters 6,500. The stock on hand is reported 623,000 bales, against 587,880 at the corresponding period last season. Note.—Our last despatch, it will be seen, announces an advance of on all descrip tions of Cotton; but this advance, it will be observed, does not seem to be sustained by the quotations. Vermont. EXTRACTS FROM OUR EXCHANGES From the Baltimore American—By Telegraph. St. Louis, Sept. 3.—By later advices from the Plains we learn that the cholera is raging among the Northwestern Indians to an alarm ing extent. It had disappeared from among the Southern tribes and those on the South Arkansas river.
