Jenny Lind at the Swedes' Church in Vhda
dflpfiia. —A sensation of no ordinary character
was created in Southwark yesterday by the
visi r o< M lie Jenny Lind to the Protestant
Episcopal Church of Gloria Die, in Swanson
s’. below Christian, better known as the “Old
Swedes’ Church.” Tho congregation in at- j
tetidenco was very large, and the crowd in the
vicinity of the Church also large. An excel
lent discourse was delivered by the pastor,
Rev. J. C Clay, from the text,” What shall I
do to inherit eternal life ?”—and the choir was
full and effective. Ai the close of the servi
ce? M’lle Lind received the greeting ofnumer
ous descendants of the pioneer emigrants from
her own native land, who settled upon the
banks of the Delaware, on the hunting grounds
of the Weccacoes, end were the original foun
ders of the time-honored edifice, within the
sacred walls of which she hid been permitted
to worship. M’Jle Lind responded to the con
gratulations and welcome she received in an
expressive and silent manner. The associa
tions of the place and the warmth of her re
ception affected her to tears. She expressed
her most heartfelt gratification at her visit.—

AUGUSTA MARKET.
Saturday, P. M.
The market to-day was firmer than yesterday, bat
we do not advance on quotations.
CHARLESTON, Oct. 26.— Cotton.—' The pres
ent week opened with quite a moderate demand,
and the salesof Friday did not exceed 6CO bales, at
about former rates; it was evident, however, that
holders were anxious to sell, and when buyers made
their appearance cn Saturday, which they did in
increased numbers, they were freely met by sellers,
and the transactions of the day were made on rath
er advantageous terms to the former class of dealers.
A much greater degree of activity prevailed on Mon
day, and Ihe tendency in prices was still in favor of
buyers. On Tuesday the market opened with even
a more general demand for the article. As the day
progressed prices rallied, and at the close of business,
they were fully up to the quotations of the ICth inst.
The transactions on Wednesday were curnparativelv
light, but the prices paid during the excitement of
the preceding day were well maintained, Thurs
day was Thanksgiving day, and very little was done,
the safes having been limited to a few hundred bale?.
The market was quiet yesterday, under the Asia’s
advices, which reached us on Wednesday evening
last. There was a good demand for the article, but
buyers were claiming a concession to which holders
would not submit, and hence the limited operations.
The business of the w eek has been the heaviest of
the season. The market closed at about the quota
tions cunent at the close of the previous week. The
week’s sales may be classed as follows, viz: Friday
618; Saturday 1500; Monday 2634; Tuesday 3000;
Wednesday 1715; Thursday 412; and Friday 982
making an aggregate of 10,861 bales, against the
receipt in the same time of 10,667 bales. We sub
join the following quotations which will give a fair
index of the state of the market at its close yester
day; Ordinary to good ordinary 12| a 12$; Middling
to good middling 13 a 13f; Middling fair 13|; Fair
I3f a 13}; and Fully fair 14c. The market contin
ues very quiet for all descriptions of Long Cotton,
The sales of the week have b°en limited to 80 bales,
at very full prices. Some 25 bales of the new crop
nave reached the market this week, the first of the
season.

GEORGIA SARSAPARILLA,
PREPARED BT
J. DENNIS, M. D. ( AUGUSTA, GA.,
A SUPERIOR article for diseases of the Li
ver and to purify the Blood.
All the complaints for which Sarsaparilla is useful
(and more too) have been mentioned in Northern ad
vertisements. Large quantities of Sarsaparilla for the
past three years have been prepared in this State for
the Northern market, sent on in barrels and then
sweetened with sugar or molasses, and we may well
suppose considerable of it comes back again, though
in a very diluted state. The only way for people at
the South to get a pure article is to obtain It from
those who prepare it in the South, That prepared by
Dr. D. is from the pure Southern roots and nothing
else.
The Georgia Sarsaparilla alone is better for dis
eases of the Liver, or diseases arising from an impure
state of the Blood, or for Southern diseases generally,
than any of the Northern compounds of the kind,
with all the sugar, molasses or sweetened water, or
any thing else they put into it.
Druggists supplied on the most liberal terras.
Our motto is Union, Home Ma lufactures and the
Georgia Sarsaparilla. 02-ts
