Sales of the four day* 20,000 bales, of which exporters Look 8,000. Storm. Charleston, Nov. 12, 9 P. M. A heavy storm is prevailing which it is fear ed will result in much damage to the shipping on the coast. Charleston Market. Tuesday, Nov. 12, P. M. — Cotton. —The sales to-day amount to 1,400 bales at 125 to 13| cents. No change in'prices. From the Baltimore American —By Telegraph. Further by the Africa. New York, Nov. B.—The steamer Africa arrived here this morning at 8 o'clock. She bring l * Liverpool dales to Oct. 26, and London to the 25th. The general state of trade throughout the entire country has not materially altered since the last accounts. As usual at this season of the year there is only a moderate demand for foreign and colonial produce. Consumers are buying but sparingly. There is an almost en tire absence of speculation. Public securities were well supported. Accounts from the Continental produce luarket concur in representing most articles as being steady, although business was less ani mated. Coffee and Sugar at Amsterdam and Rot terdam were without material alteration, but prices were regarded as firm. The general political news by this arrival is without special interest. Bho brings 119 pas rengers. The steamer Atlantic arrived out on the 24th ult., making the passage in something less than 12 days. The steamer Niagara arrived on the 20th, completing her voyage in a little over II days. There has been some excitement in Liver pool caused by a correspondence between Messrs. Brown Sc Shipley and the Trustees of the Burkenhead Decks, relative to the condi tions on which American vessels will be ad raitted to the docks of the latter place. The regulation* of the Liverpool docks have caused great inconvenience and loss to Ameri can ships, and hence the probability is that Burkenhead will be chosen in preference to Liverpool. English affairs generally are without any new feature worthy of note. Political Itelllgence* Denmark and the Dutchies. —The official list of the loss sustained by the Holstein army be fore Freidrichstadt on 28th Sept, and sth Oct. shows that 700 officers and men have been placed hors de combat. The authorities are busily engaged in recruiting their forces and preparing the army for winter quarters. Holstein Affairs. —Ills believed, should the French aid the llolsteinera sufficiently, the result, even under the most favorable circum stances, can hardly bring matters to a favorable close. Advices from Hesse Cassel to the 20th Oct, state that no change had taken place in affairs of the Electoral. Mr. Evans has not succeeded in forming his cabinet, and the Elec tor had again declined accepting the proposals which were made to him—officers too who handed in their resignations, are left without decision as to their acceptance. Mr. Olker is •till in prison, and an order of the upper court for his liberation cannot be executed until it is first addressed to tho commander of the Cassel. France. —The prolongation of the (term of the Presidency of Napoleon to four years by the Assembly is looked upon as certain. Spain —The Ministerial crisis in Spain has been adjusted. China —The overland mail has arrived from China. The civil war still rages in Neseams territories. An insurrsetion has broken out in the Southern provinces of China, having for its object the overthrow of the young Em psror. From Ireland and other portions of Europe there is nothing special to notice. Political affairs remain about as at previous advices. MARKETS. Liverpool, Oct. 2C, — Cotton. —The Colton maria t has been quiet this week, but at the came tuae. advices brought by the steamers Niagara and Atlantic, which arrived this week, give holders more firmness on the grounds of aehortcrop for 1850 and 1851. Prices are again in favor of the seller, though not gene rally so. The quotations of to-day are about *<J above these of last week. The market closes steadily this evening, and sales of to day are 6000 bales. The tAal sales of the week are 38,390 bales. Speculators toek 8390 bales. Exporters 3360 bales. Theesti mated stock on hand is 446,000 against 432,- 500 bales this time last year. Private sales in London for the week are 3500 bales—market closing firm. Breadstuff's. —There has been no new fea ture in Gram. The demand for Wheat and Flour has been quiet; but no change in prices. Indian Corn for shipment to Ireland continues in good request; and holders have this week been enabled to obtain 6d a 9d advance per qr. Flour —Western canal Flour, 18 to 22 shillings; Baltimore, 235. 6d. a 245.; Ohio. 23 a 245.; Canadian. 22 a 235. per bbl. Yellow Indian Corn, 29 a 30 shillings ; white, 29 a 295, 6d. per qr. Indian Meal, 14 to 14s. 3d. per bbi. lion dull and prices unchanged. Public Securities, though generally well sapported, have been the subject of conside rable speculation, owing to the teaor of the Continental advices, especially on Thursday when it became known th t France and Rus sia contemplated an intervention in the affairs of Schleswig Holstein. On Monday the mar ket was firm. Consols for money have been done at 97.* a 975, and for account at 97| a 97*. Business was more active on the follow ing day. but for the closing of the week prices were 97| a 97*. New York, Nov. B.—The seamer Chero kee, from Chagree, Oct. 27. arrived this morn ing bringing one million and a half in gold. Tne Cherokee stopped at Kingston, Jamaica, and reports that the deaths by cholera at that {•lace since the disease first broke out amount 0 331, *ad at Port Royal 181. The disease tas also been verv fatal in ether tewns on the hand. Wisconsin Election. — Miltsaukie,’- Nov. 8- *n the firm district Durkee, for Congress has *b«ut 1500 majority. Milwaukie county gave I' 4 ? majority fer Elmore, Democrat, but the ,higs however, generally voted for Durkee, which elected him. Dodge. . Philadelphia, Nov. B.—lt is now ascertained at 16 persons irare killed and five badly °unded, brides some ten or more slightly •undid. These who were injured are now in the hospital. Those killed or wounded were emigrants and their names not known. Capt. Claypool is not dangerously injured. The cargo is safe ; also the bull of the vessel. The damage to the boat is slight. AH the passengers killed and wounded were in the engineer’s room and kitchen, at the time of the disaster. A cabin passenger namec Win. Stephens was killed, but he was in the kitchen at the time. B—William and Ellen Crafts, fugitive slave*, of whom there has been so much said, were yesterday married by the Rev. Tho Gubernatorial Election in this State is doubtful. So close are the official returns that they only decide that Hunt’s chances of suc cess are the best. Calhoun’s Statue left in the Southerner yes terday. Part of one of the arms is lost. New Orleans Nov. 8, P. M. —The Africa’s news was received hero to-day, and had no effect whatever on the market. Cotton was in active demand and 4000 bales changed hands at firm prices, good middling 13$. Prime new Rice, 45. Sugar has undergone a slight de cline, fair bringing 5 cents, Molasses is also lower. 600 hhds. sold at 25 to 25*. Baltimore, Nov. 11.—Hunt, it is now conce ded ia elected Governor of New York. The steamer Georgia sailed to-day from New York, with 300 passengers. Baltimore, Nov. 11. —Briggs’s majority for Governor of Massachusetts, is 2,847. The Free Soil vo‘e ia diminished, as compared with previous results, while the Democratic vote has increased. Neto Orleans, Nov. 10 P. M. —On Saturday there was a good inquiry lor Cotton and 5,000 bales changed hands. The sales of the week foot up 23,500 bales. Prices remain un changed—middling quoted at 131. Fair Su gar 5. Sales of 600 hhds. Molasses at 25 cents Whiskey has declined to 30. New crop Rice commands 4* Boston, Nov. 9.—We have the Sandwich Island papers to the 24th of August. A large agricultural meeting was held at Mannakilika, on the 11th inst. A permanent organization of the Agricultu ral Society was made under the name of ‘'Ha. waiian Agricultural Society.” The Hawaiian Legislature which had been in session since the 10th of April adjourned on Tuesday the 20(h. His Majesty was present at the closing of the session, although still weak from the effects • f his late illness. He toek a lively interest in the proceedings. A great amount of business had been done during the session, and an act passed making a criminal code. Hon. Chas. Bunker, U. S. consul for La haina and specially empowered by the Presi dent to exchange ratification of the treaty with the United States of the 20th of December, 1849, had an audience with the King before proceeding to his destination. He made a short address, and His Majesty in reply welcomed him to the Glands, and gave him in exchange his own ratification of the treaty, which he hoped would work for the good of both nations, and strengthen those relations of amity and commerce which had so long existed betweeen the Americans and Hawaiians. In the leading articles of Groceries, Sugar, Coffee, Molasses, Salt, Iron, Bagging, Bacon, See., See., we have no change to note in prices. There is a fair demand from the trade and planters, and an abundant supply of each at the rates noted in our table of prices. EXCHANGE—Continues abundant on the North at par. FREIGHTS—Same as last week ; 50 cts. to Sa vannah and 81 per bale to Charleston. The river, though low, is navigable for light draft steamers with light freights. Liverpool Market. Extracts of Letters per Africa: LIVERPOOL, Oct. 25. — Cotton. —The market has been characterized by great firmness throughout the week, and a fair trade inquiry has been expe rienced ; Speculators and Exporters have also taken a fair quantity. The recent advices from America, have not produced any material effect upon prices, which close at a partial advance of an *d per lb. in the ennent qualities of American, and full rates for all other descriptions, excepting Egyptian, which ia still freely offered. Speculators have taken 4600 American, 360 Pernam, 540 Maranhara, 910 Egyp tian and 1880 Surat, and Exporters 2010 American, 20 Pernam, 100 Egyptian and 1230 bales Surat. — T. cp H. Littlcdale & Co. LIVERPOOL, Oct. 25.— State of Trade.—A fair activity continues to prevail in the manufacturing districts. The encouraging advices from India have caused increased demand, and higher prices for suit able goods and yarns ; and the stocks are quite mo derate. Cotton Market. —During the whole of the past week the demand for cotton has been steady, with daily sales of about 6,000 bales, and tince receipt of reports of frost, and of injury done to crops in Ten nessee, prices have advanced a little. The week’s sales are 38,360 hales, of which 11,650 bales on speculation and for export. The market to-day closes firmly, with sales of 7.000 bales. We quote fair Orleans B*d.: middling 7 13-166. fair Mobiles Bd.; middling 7 11-lbd. to 7|d,; fair Upland Bd.; middling 711-16 d. Grain and Flour. —Our arrivals of Wheat and Flour have been liberal duiing the week. The trade have shown little disposition to purchase, and the market has been languid, with prices s lightly lower for Wheat. Fiour regains unaltered in value.
