Somethin* Pithy.—Four gentlemen—a Baptist, Presbyterian, Methodist and Roman Catholic—met by agreement to dine on a fish. Soon as grace was said, the Catholic rose, armed with a knife end fork, and taking about one third of the fish, comprehending the head, removed it to his plate, exclaiming as he eat down, with great self satisfaction, “Papa est caput ecciesiae,” the Pope is the head of the church. Progress of the South—The Alabama State Guard gives a flattering description of a new manufacturing town which has lately come into notice. It is called “Bradford is located on Socapatoy creek, and is now the most growing and prosperous place—next to Prattville—in the State. Joseph H. Bradford, Esq , is the proprietor. The location is healthy. There are quite a number of small manufactu ring establishments and machine shops in tho town, but the main factory for manufacturing cotton is built es granite, and is a large and commodious building.
