For the last 15 years of hie life Mr. Tarver was
i arely afflicted with a tumor or erccerouelike forma
tion on his back { but he bore bis afflictions with un
exampled patience and Christian fortitude, and died
at last in the fall assurance of a bib sful hereafter.
Mr. T. was n member of the Baptise Church, and
for upwards of half a century adorned the Christian
profession by a godly walk and pious conversation.
Probably no one was mors remarkable for plainness
of tpjscb, honesty ol purpose, decision of character,
a firm, manly, independent bearing, than the subject
of this obituary notice. He spoke his opinions at
nil limes, and upon sll quertiot.s, freely and fully,
never indulging in idle and unmeaning compliments
to others, nor allowing such, in others, of himaelf.
He mads the Bible his book of study, and the man
cf bis counsel. Bot he is goon. Peace to bis mem
