THE INFALLIBLE COUGH REMEDY. DU.C. WILLIAMS’ PI LMO.MC BALSAM OF WILD CHERRY and WOOD NAPTHA, for the cure i of Coughs, Colds, Hoarseness, Whooping Cough, Croup, ( j Bronchitis, Spitting of Blood, Asthma, and Consumption. | No medical preparation has ever been presented to the i public, under such favorable auspices as this medicine. It j has been received with the most marked approbation by , ' thousands, and its celebrity as a remedy for all diseases of the Lungs, is now becoming notorious. Language cannot describe the promptness and efficacy of its action ; indeed its salutary effects are truly wonderful. It has been known to cure the most hopeless cases after the best medical skill, and all known remedies had failed. Testimony the most convincing is constantly being re ceived, certifying to the superior excellence of Dr. C. Wil liams’ COMPOUND PULMONIC BALSAM OF M ILD CHERRY and M OOD NAPTHA. It is becoming very popular wherever it ha? been introduced, and has secured an enviable reputation; indeed it has been emphatically pronounced the greatest remedy for all diseases of the Chest and Lungs, that has ever been presented to the public. The following communication is from Dr. James M. Con ner, an eminent surgeon Dentist, who is well known through out North Alabama: Courtlaxd, Ala., Sept. 4,1650. —Dr. C. Williams —Dear Sir : I believe it becomes my duty to speak of the medical virtues of your “.Pulmonic Balsam of Wild Cherry and M’ood Naptha.” In the early part of last week I was af flicted with a very bad cold and coqgh, and having many professional engagements to attend to, I neglected paying my -case proper and timely attention, until my cough "ot so bad I could scarcely speak ; attended with a great diffi culty of breathing; and all my friends thought my case a very bad one. Isent-for a bottle of your “ Pulmonic Bal sam,” and commenced taking it as directed; in about naif an hour I felt greatly relieved and was in a gentle perspira tion, and in about I hour I was nearly clear of the cough and my breathing entirely relieved, andwasenabled to at tend to my professional business on the following day.* hen 1 found myself entirely relieved from all the distressing symptoms. 1 must, therefore, unhesitatingly declare that your Pul monic Balsam had the most happy effect in my case, and proved itself superior to any remedy I ever used before, and from my experience declare it to be the most prompt and effectual remedy for affections of the Chest and Lungs ever presented to the public. It produced in my case free expectoration and a gentle perspiration, relieved the great difficulty of breathing ami coughing, and allayed all the soreness and burning in my breast, in a remarkably short space of time, acting like a charm. Years, with high esteem, J. M. Cosxkr. Hcxtsvii.le, Ala., August 1, 1850.—Dr. C. Williams— Dear Sir: Your Pulmonic Balsam of Wild Cherry and M'ood Naptha, is in great demand with us, and gives every satisfaction. It is the leading remedy for diseases of the Lungs here, and is superceding all other medicines. Most truly yours, J. F. Demoville, Druggist. Athens, Ala., March 20, 1850.—Dr. C. M’illiams —Dear Sir : Your Balsam is in great demand at the present, and we hope to do you justice in selling it. Respectfully, Malone A Harris, Druggists. Florence, Ala, Dec. 19,1549. —Dear Sir; I take the pre sent opportunity of bearing testimony to the medical qual ities of your Pulmonic Medicine. The Rev. B. B. Barker had a cough for about three or four weeks. It not only was distressing to himself, but such was the severity of the paroxysms that all around sympathized with him. I ad vised him to try your Compound Syrup of Wild Cherry and M'ood Naptha. He did so, and took one bottle, and it stopped the cougli almost immediately, and has not since returned, nor has he had any symptoms of it since. I have used many cough medicines and have tried and seen used, all the balsams and nostrums of the present day, and I verily believe that yours is superior to them all. I remain yours, T. J. Kilpatrick, Principal of the Florence Male Academy. Buzzard Roost, Ala., September 18, ISSO.—Dr. Charles AVillianis : I am gratified to «ay to you, that I have used in two eases, your Pulmonic Balsam of Wild Cherry and M’ood Naptha, and found it a safe and efficient remedy for Coughs and Colds, I have used it myself and found it to be a very excellent remedy for any derangement of the Bowels, Diarrhoea, Ac. This preparation has now borne the test of over 14 years’ experience, since its first introduction to public favor, during I which time numerous imitations have sprung into existence, founding their claims to the confidence of the com i munity on the curative powers contained in Sarsa ! paiilla Root, the great reputation and extended use of which has been mainly attributable to the many wonderful cures effected by the use of this preparation. While Sarsa parilla root forms an important part of its combination, it is, at the same time compounded with other vegetable remedie of great power, and it is in the peculiar combination and scientific manner of its preparation, that its remarkable success in the cure of diseases depends. Other preparations imitate it in the style of putting up and in bee ring the name of one of its ingredients, and here endsth?r resemblance to it. Those needing a remedy and purifier i1 > t this, are re quested to note where this difference exists, and in making choice cf what they will use, not to take anyother but that one entitled to their confidence, from the long list of cures it has effected on living witnesses, whose testimonials and residences have been published, and who are still bearing daily testimony to its worth. The whole history of medicine lias scarcely furnished a parallel to the nume rous and remarkable cures effected by its use, and w hat it has effected once it can effect again. FROM KENTUCKY. INFLAMMATORY RHEUMATISM CURED . Bardstown, Ky., July 10,1549. Messrs. Sands—Gentlemen: It is my duty to communi cate facts in relation to the beneficial effects of your Sarsa parilla. My wife was afflicted with inflammation and sore ness of the stomach of the worst character; her limbs were much swollen ; she had constant headache, and last spring was attacked severely with Inflammatory Rheumatism. The best medical aid we could obtain afforded only momen tary relief; and while in this situation, she heard of the many remarkable cures effected by the use of Sands’ Sarsa parilla and comraeft'ed its use, which produced instant re lief, and less than six bottles entirely removed all the drop sical swelling and every r other inflammatory symptom, restor ing her to perfect health. I send this statement as an act of justice, believing it to be my duty to encourage the suf fering portion of the human family to use Sands’ Sarsaparilla, which I believe has no parrailel in the catalogue of medicine. M’ith feelings of lasting gratitude, 1 remain your friend, Samuel P. Hauler. Read the following from New Orleans, Nor. 12, 1849 Messrs. Sands—Gentlemen : I take the liberty of sendin a letter which may be of importance to those who are suffer ing as I have done. I received great benefit from your Sar saparilla, having been cured of a malady after suffering six years. I hereby eheefully certify to the good effec icfyovr medicine, and 1 hope God will reward you for all the good you have done. A chronic cough had tormented me day and night, and repeated attacks of fever induced me to be lieve that I should die with consumption. One day, while suflering a violent attack of burning fever, a friend persua ded me to try your incomparable medicine, but to tell the truth, I had no confidence in it. 1 finally purchased a bottle, and by its use, and the help of God, I was restored to bet ter health than I had enjoyed for six years. 1 cannot but bless the author of this admirable medicine. With great respect, 1 am, gentlemen, Your obedient servant, FERMIN GROUPAZ, • - “TRUTH IS STRANGER THAN FICTION.” New Durham, N. J., June 80, IS4O, Messrs. Sands—Gentlemen: My wife suffered with a distress and burning in her chest for many years, and my daughter v.-as afflicted from her birth with a humor in the blood. We consulted various physicians, and tried numerous r medics, without much benefit, until we heard, through Rev. Thomas Davis, of the great medicinal value of Sands Sarsaparilla. On his recommendation my wife and daughter decided on trying it, and soon experienced permanent bene fit. My (laughter’s skin assumed a new appearance entire ly ; from being rough, hard and scaly, it became smooth and soft. My wife’s sufferings are almost gone, and its use a short time longer, it is my firm belief, will produce a perfect cure. Yours, with respect, G. S. Many years of trial, instead of impairing the public con fidence in this medicine, has won for it an appreciation and notoriety by far exceeding the most sanguine expectations of its friends. Nothing but its intrinsic virtues, and the unmistakable benefit conferred on thousands of sufferers, could originate and maintain the reputation it enjoys. While many inferior remedies thrust upon the community, have failed and been discarded, this has gained friends by every trial, conferred benefits on the afflicted they can nev er forget, and produced cures too numerous and too remark able to be forgotten. While it is a fraud on the public to pretend that any’ one medicine will infallibly cure—still there is abundant proof that the CHERRY" PECTORAL does not only as a general thing, but almost invariably, cure the maladies for which it is employed. As time makes these facts wider r n 1 better known, this medicine has gradually become the best reliance of the af flicted, from the log-cabin of the American peasant, to the palaces of European Kings. Throughout this entire coun try, in every State, city, and indeed almost every hamlet it contains, CHERRY PECTORAL is known as the best reme dy extant for diseases of the Throat and Lungs, and in ma ny foreign countries, it is coming to be extensively used by their most intelligent Physicians. In Great Britain, France and Germany, where the medical sciences have reached their highest perfection, CHERRY PECTORAL is intro duced, and in constant use in the Armies, Hospitals, Alms Houses, Public Institutions, and in domestic practice, as the surest remedy their attending Physicians can employ for the more dangerous affections of the Lungs. Also, in milder cases, and for children it is safe, pleasant, and ef fectual to cure. In fact, some of the most flattering testi monials we receive have been from parents who have found it efficacious in cases particularly incidental to childhood. The CHERRY’ PECTORAL is manufactured by a practi cal Chemist, and every ounce of it under his owa eye, with invariable accuracy and care. It is sealed and protected by law from c ounterfeits, consequently can be relied on as genuine without adulteration. We have endeavored here 1 furnish the community with a medicine of such instrin superiority and worth as should commend itself to their confidence—a remedy at once safe, speedy and effectual, w hich this has by repeated and countless trials proved itself to be’; ami trust by great care in preparing it with chemical accuracy, of uniform strength to afford Physicians a new agent on which they can rely for the best results, and the afflicted with a reme dy' that will do for them all that medicine can do. IIK APS there is nothing more calculated to disgust I the public eye than the innumerable advertisements of the nostrums that are constantly appearing in the public prints. AH are ready to exclaim, Our souls are sick, our ears are pained with every days reports of Ills and speci fics. This state of the public mind would seem to forbid any person of dclica e mind from sending forth any new dis coveries in m edicine to the trial of the public: still motives of delicacy should not prevent ns from making known real discoveries, which we are confident will benefit our leilow men. This latter consideration has prompted the author of these Bitters to make them known. He knows they are highly efficacious, for he himself, his wife, and many friends have given them a thorough trial. He was, for many years, a confirmed dyspeptic—so much so that even his recollec tion was gone, but by the use of these Bitters he has been restored to perfect health. This has been the rase with many of his friends. The proprietor, in sending forth this advertisement, addresses those who know him. He has been, for many years, a resident of Augusta, but at this time of Hamburg, S. C.,at which place he can, at any time, be consulted about the Bitters. They are good'in all cases of diseases of the digestive organs, the symptoms of which are, indigestion, pain or oppression in the stomach from food, loss of anpetite, flatulency, heart-burn, giddiness in the head, pain in the side, shortness of breath, lassitude, general weakness, disturbed sleep, Ac. The composition is entirely Botanical, and has proved efficacious, where many celebrated medicines had failed; in support of which he could give reference to a number of persons, who have made a trial of it, but deems it unnecessary, as he is willing to place it on its own merits. All he asks is for those who arc afflicted with dyspepsia to give it a trial. The above Bitters can he had at 0. COSBY’S Hamburg, S. C., and at Dr. Y\ M. 11. HAST I \ G’S COMPOUND SYRUP OF NAPHTHA.—The wonder and doubt felt by the Medical Faculty when Dr, Hasting proclaimed the curability cf Pul monary Consumption, by the use of Naphtha as a remedial agent, has now-, after eight years of trial, settled down into a deep conviction that there are few or no cases in which Consumption cannot be cured by DR. BASTING’S COMPOUND SYRUP OP NAPHTHA. In every case in which it has been tried in England or tlie United States, it has been followed by immediate relief and ultimate cure. In the Blenheim Free Dispensary, under the charge of Dr. Hastings, during five years "that the Naphtha has been in use, there has not been a single death from dLease of the Lungs, while previously patients had died almost every week. In incipient stages of Consump tion the effect of the Naphtha Syrup is almost miraculous and a cure effected in an incredibly short space of time. In the more advanced stages, and even in the third or last dreadful division of this hitherto incurable disease, its ef fect is equally wonderful. This period is marked by the expectoration of the tubercles in cheese-like particles mixed with pus, mucous, blood, Ac., and most generally ac companied with diarrhea. On administering the Naphtha Syrup, the formation of the tubercles is almost instantly ar rested, the foreign matter thrown off, the tubercles already formed are destroyed, and the breathing immediately be comes easier, and the patient, on the third night after first taking the Syrup, is often able to enjoy a quiet night’s rest —a thing unknown for weeks previously. THE TRIAL OF A SINGLE BOTTLE is all that is asked hy the Proprietor to prove this medicine to be all that has been stated. BRONCHITIS. Bronchitis has in this remedy a sur L and speedy cure! and is acknowledged by all the medical faculty to be with* out a rival in the speedy cure of Bronc itis, both acute and chronic. COUGHS, COLD AND CATARRHS yield to the influence of the Naphtha Syrup, often in the short space of forty-eight hours. NIGHT-SWEATS. This distressing and weakening accompaniment to Con sumption and other diseases, is instantly stopped by the use of the Naphtha Syrup. SPITTING OP BLOOD. The most severe attacks of Spitting of Blood have inva riably been stopped within the short space of thirty mi nutes, and all disposition to recurrence of the same pre vented. In conclusion, the Proprietor warrants the Naph tha Syrup, to be not only the best but the only certain cure for Pulmonary Consumption, and all other diseases of the Lungs.
