THE subscriber politely informs the young Men and Ladies of Augusta, that ho will give a Course of In struction in English Orthoepy, or the classic and corre ct pronunciation of the English Language. He offers <0 teach a thorough knowledge of the whole English vocabu lary in JWftty Lessons, and will occupy only twenty minutes of the Pupil’s time with each lesson. Instruction will be given to each Pupil privately, either at his own re sidence, or at my room in the United States’ Hotel. It would be superfluous for me to make any remarks in rela tion to the importance and usefulness of acquiring a cor rect and certain knowledge of Orthoepy, as all who hare £ven the sutgect any attention must know, that since the aglish pronunciation has been received from the arbitral y dictate* of pedantry, and the fluctuations of caprice, l y Mr. Walker, and Dr. Webster, Orthoephy seems to ha-« become almost a criterion of Good Breeding and a Liber il Iducation; and it is evidently impossible for one to spe. k politely, or read correctly, without it. My plan of Instruc tion is concise and simple, requiring no effort of the min 1, and my Terms for Instruction only $5; and if 1 fail togu’e perfect satisfaction, will require no compensation, nor will I expect remuneration, if 1 do not succeed in teaching the Pupil the pronunciation of 100 common English Won's. Head the following: S. McDONNKLL. Mr. B. McDonell purposes giving Courses of Instruction in English Orthoepy, by anew method. Hi# plan, which 1 have examined, 1 consider highly commendable and as fully calculated to effect the design intended. I won id, therefore, unhesitatingly recommend him to the patronage of a discerning public, as a gentleman fully competent to wive perfect satisfaction in the enterprise which he 1 as undertaken. WM. T. FEAY, Principal of the High School of Savannah, July 29,1562. I concur in the above, from the explanation made to me, by Mr. 8. McDonnell, and am particularly confirmed in my opinion by its agreement with on* so experienced and ca pable. RICHARD D. ARNOLD August $, 1852. We have examined Mr. 8. McDonnell's system of teaching English Orthoepy, and would recommend it as the only concise, lucid, and correct method by which a complete snd lasting knowlege of pronunciation can be attained, and hope It will meet with the patronage it so fully deserves. About four months ago I put my self under the treatment of Drs. Rountree 4 Smith, and am happy to say that by a few applications of their Vegeta ble Salve, the Cancer was separated from the sound flesh in one solid mass, and in a few days dropped out. The place is entirely healed, and no mark left, and not one drop of blood flowed during the operation. I take great pleasure in recommending Drs. Rountree 4 Smith to all those afflicted with Cancers. Elizabeth Mcrrat. Augusta Arsenal, August 12, 1552. Augusta, Ga., August 18,1852. For a length of time I suffered from Dropsy, and grew worse every day, until I became so full of water that I could not breathe a full breath, or lay down for 2 months. I then put myself under the treatment of Drs. Rountree 4 Smith, Indian Doctors, Augusta, Ga., and from that time 1 commenced improving, and in a few days was able to walk. I can now say that I am enjoying as good health as I ever did in my life, and have been doing my work as usual for two months. I earnestly recommend Drs. Rountree 4 Smitk to those afflicted as I hare been. Martha Howard. Attest —Elizabeth Bass, Pauline Fountain, and Julia Bass. For fourteen years I was was afflicted with Dyspepsia.
