M- Cotton—The quantity on »»le to-day w as greater probably, than any other day during tho season, and to effect sales, holders submitted to a shade lower rates. The sales reached 120* *to 1500 halos. Liverpool Market. LIVERPOOL, October 5. — Cotton . —The market waa firm ' yesterday at the extreme rates of last week, and the sate reached 15,000 bags ; to-day there has been less inquiry, the accounts per Europa not proving so exciting as antici pated, and the business only sums up 5,000 or 6,000 bags, without change in prices. In Manchester a good deal is doing, sud the India accounts just received, seem likely to induce a continuance of large shipments there. —James McHenry's Circular. LIVERPOOL, Oct. s.— Chiton.-— The animated inquiry which existed for this staple at the close of business on Friday last, continued unabated ou Saturday and Monday the sales of both days being large, and all classes displaying great confidence—so much so, indeed, that holders offered their stocks less freely, and a partial advance on last week’s rates was currently paid for American descriptions in demand. After the close of business, the Europa’s accounts were received, but were considered very conflict ing in their tenor, and caused some irregularity in the opening transactions to-day, besides giving a check to the amount of operations, increased in some degree, by its being Manchester market day, and many being absent, attending the same. At this particular period and for some weeks to come, the advices from America will have more or less influence here, and according to their nature, so will our market rule. The sales for the past three days are estimated as fol lows : Saturday, 13,000 bales; 4,t»bo speculation and ex port—7,ooo American. Monday, 15,000 Dales ; 6,000 spe culation and export—ll,soy American. Tuesday 6,000 bales ; 1.500 speculation end export—s,loo American. The Import for same tune Is about 11,000 bales. In Manchester, the firm position of spinners, based upon the contracts they are in possession of and the ad vanced price of the raw material prompting them to de mand additional value for yarn, which has in many in stances been paid, tends to check fresh engagements ; and for India, there has been less doing, although the last Bom bay accounts are calculated to stimulate the inquiry, which hat also been of an Improved character for the Continent, ve y much to the prejudice of manufacturers of cloth, who do not participate in the improvement. Our grain market exhibits much firmness, and for wheat there has been an improved demand, which has advanced the price Id. <& 2d. per 70 lbs., for average parcels good Philadelphia and Baltimore.
