THE Shakers of Waterveliet have said for thirty years they have been in the habit of grinding their food for -lock, and find they have, by cooking it, a saving of one third. I, too, have been trying experiments, and find four mea sures of Pea or Corn meal will make eleven measures of thick mush, and if made of proper consistency, would make more than twelve. Let the water be boiling hot, and stir in the meal, and you will fin 11 am right. Horses and Mules w ill do better and last longer. Our sta ble men have found it out, and say they have had less loss of life and less sickness than they have ever known since feeding on ground corn, and a great saving. Five bushels in the ear will crush out nine bushels. What a saving. The Granite Mill* are in excellent order to do these things for you with dispatch. The Crusher is new, and only awaits your Corn to show the benefit to arrive to both parties, ol JAMES L. COLEMAN. THE GRANITE MILLS AT WORK AGAIN. I ''HESE splendid Mills, erected at very heavy cost to i heir owner, need support from the bomb; and Citi zens, and Southerners, I most respectfully ask you to sus ain them, if not the Granite slills, do not forget the South. Vou have the Cunningham Mills, the Atlanta, Etowa, Le banon, Dentnead, and other Southern Mills. Have you ever thought that every barrel of F our brought from the North deprives the South of a quantity of food for those of noderate means, who can now buy Flour from me at *4.00 per barrel, and that you also contribute to increase the price of provisions for Negroes and Stock, by giving your patronage to Foreign rather than Home Mills, ol JAMES L. COLEMAN. HOTEL FOR SALE. THE HOTEL,in this place, known as “WASH- JgfSi INGTON HALL,” is offered for sale. THE GREATEST 001 T.H REMEDY EVER DISCOVERED. DB. C. WILLIAMS’ COMPOUND PULMONIC BAL SAM 0? WILD CHERBY AND WOOD NAPTHA, for the complete cure of Coughs, Colds, Intiuenea, Asthma, Bronchitis, Spitting of Blood, and all other Lung Complaints BEAD I' This justly celebrated preparation is recommended by some of the most learned and intelligent Physicians in ths country, and will be found superior to any remedy for ths cure of all diseases of the respiratory organs. All persona who have used it for Asthma, Cough, Spitting of Blood, Whooping Cough, Croup, or Hires, Consumption, Pain. Soreness of the Breast, Difficulty of breathing, and every other disease of the Breast and Lungs, attest its superior efficacy in the most unqualified terms. In Pneumonia, a disease which is generally very dan gerous and fatal, it is confidently believed to be the safes! and most effective remedy that can be employed. It has been known to cure in a short time some of the most dan* gerou- cases of Pneumonia, alter it had baffled every other remedy. Bronchitis, a disease which is annually sweeping thou sands to a premature grave under the mistaken name of Consumption, is promptly relieved and cured by it. The usual symptoms of this disease (Bronchitis,) are Cough, Difficulty of Breath ng, Hoarseness, Soreness of the Throat or Lungs, Asthma, i. ectic Fever, accompanied with Spit ting of Phlegm, or matter, and sometimes Blood. It is an infiamation of the membrane which lines the inside of the whole o # the wind tubes or a_r vessels which run through every part of the Lungs. Th.s Pulmonic Balsam immedi ately suppresses the Cough ami Pain, subdues the Imfla mation and Fever, removes the di . culty of breathing, by producing a free and easy Expectoration, so that a cureia soon effected. It always cures in Ast ma. Two or three doses will cure the Croup or Hives ol children in a few minutes, and it is remarkable how prompt i is in aubduing the violence of Whooping Cough, and effect ng a speedy cure, and many who have been given up by t tir Physi cians as incurable in Consumption, have been re-tored to perfect health by it. In fact, as a remedy in Pulxrt nary Diseases, no medicine has ever obtained a higher or mere deserved reputation, in the short time it has been before the public. . . This Pulmonic Balsam, if given in the commencement of Pleurisy, Pneumonia, or in acute P.heumatism, in dosee large enough to produce a little nausea for some time, (go ing to bed and covering up warm,) will produce a free per spiration, which, if continued for two or three hours, will subdue those diseases at once. v fSP"' See Directions, also Dr. Williams’ Medical Pamph lets and Circular, with certificates from gentlemen of tba first standing. It is our purpose to circulate these pamphlets and circu lars extensively; but should any one be overlooked they are earnestly desired to call upon the Agents named below, and procure one gratis. It will repay perusal and intro j duce you to a mass of testimony in favor of the prepara , tion which is perfectly irresistable. Such being our confl : deuce in its virtues, wc arc willing to warrant the Medi ; cine in every recent case, (if used according to the direc * tions,) and where the person is not satisfied that he is de riving benefit from it by returning the bottle, within 24 ! hours time, urn Mokkt will be refunded. Os all the numerous medicines extant, (and some of them valuable) for the cure of pulmonary complaints, nothing has ever been found which could compare in its effects with this Preparation. Others cure sometimes, but at all times and in all diseases of the Lungs and Throat where medicine can give relief, this will do it. It is pleasant to take, and perfectly safe in accordance with the directions. We do not advertise for the information of those who havs tried it, but those who have not. Families that have known ■ its value will not be without it, and by its timely use, they 1 arc secure from the dangerous consequences of Coughs i and Colds which neglected, ripen into fatal consumption. | The Diploma of the Massachusetts Institute was award ! ed to this preparation by the Board of Judges in Septem j ber, 1847 ; also, the Medals of the three great Institutes of Art, in this country ; also, the Diploma of the Ohio Instl i tude at Cincinnati, has been given to the CHERBY PEC- I TORaL, by their Government in consideration of its extra ordinary excellence and usefulness in curing affections of the Lungs and Throat. J. J. Bdbtoh.m. d., r. a. e. See what it has done on a wasted constitution, not only in the following cases, but a thousand more; Scdbckt, Jan. 24th, 1851. Dr. Ayer: In the month of July last I was attacked by a violent diarrhoea in the mines of California. 1 returned to San Francisco in hope of receiving benefit from a change of climate and diet. My diarrhoea ceased, but was follow ed by a severe cough—and much soreness. I finally start ed for home, but received no benefit from the voyage. My cough continued to grow worse, and when 1 arrived in New York, I was at once marked by my acquaintances as a vic tim of consumption. I must confess that 1 saw no sufficient | reason to doubt what my friends all believed. At this time I commenced taking your truly invaluable medicine with • little expectation of deriving any benefit from its use. You ; would not receive these lines did I not regard it my duty to state to the afflicted, through yon, that my health, in the space of eight months, Is fully restored. 1 attribute it t« the use of your CHERRY PECTORAL. Yours, truly, William W. Smith. Wabhixotoh, Pa., April 12,1848. Dear Sir: Peeling that I have been spared from a pre mature grave, through your instrumentality by the provi dence of God, I will take the liberty to express to you my gratitude. A Cough, and the alarming symptoms of Consumption ; had reduced me too low to leave me anything like a hope, j when my physician brought me a bottle of your “ Pkcto ' eal.” It seemed to afford immediate relief, and now in a ! few weeks time has restored me to sound health. If it will do for others what it has for me, you are cer tainly one of the benefactors of mankind. Sincerely wishing you every blessing, I am, very respect fully, yours, John J. He knows they are highly efficacious, for he himself, his wife, and many friends have given them a thorough trial. He was, for many years, a confirmed dyspept: c—so much so that even his recollec tion was gone, but by the use of these Bitters he has been restored to perfect health. This has been the case with i many of his friends. The proprietor, in sending forth this advertisement, addresses those who know him. He has ’ been, for many yea 's, a resident of Augusta, but at this time of Hamburg, 8. 0., at which place he can, at any time, be consulted about the Bitters. They are good in all cases of diseases of the digestive organs, the symptoms of which are, indigestion, pain or oppression in the stomach from food, lose of appetite, flatulency, heart-burn, giddiness in the head, pain in the side, shortness of breath, lassitude, general weakness, disturbed sleep, Ac. The composition is entirely Botanical, ar d has proved efficacious, where many celebrated medicines had failed; in support of which he could give reference to a number of persons, who have made a trial of it, but deems it unnecessary, as he is willing to place it on its own merits. All be asks is for those who are afflicted with dyspepsia to give it a trial. The above Bitters can be had at 0. COSBY’S Hamburg, S. C., and at Dr. WM, H. TUTT’S Drug Store, Broad street, Augusta. fe29 THE REMEDY FOUND AT LAST. r f"'RIUMPHANT SUCCESS has attended the use of L that wonderful Ointment MARSHALL’S MAGICAL PAIN ERADICATOR.
