B.—The steamer Fulton brings despatches from Consul Sharkey in regard to the imprisonment of Capt. Gray and the officers and crew of the Lady Suffolk. Their contents have not yet been ascertained. A Cabinet meeting was held to-day and it is supposed the subject was un der consideration. We learn from the officers of the Fulton that Judge Sharkey and Capt. Hollis, of the Cyane, held an interview with the Captain General in regard to the affair, shortly before the Fulton left, and it was possible that the accused would be released, there being no sufficient evi dence that the Lady Suffolk would be engaged in the Slave Trade, and besides it was generally un derstood that the Captain General was aiding and acettiug the Slave Trade. Everything was quiet at Havana. Americai s were scarce and narrowly watched. Louisville, Dec. 6. —The St Louis papers have received advices via independence, from Santa Fe, one month later. The Great Britain steamer for Australia arrived atSabel Bay from Liverpool on the 10th. The papers contain details of the Kaffir war.— Collisions between the troops are mentioned, but no decided battles. A band of the rebels from the colony of Albany were routed by the forces under \ Barrey, and five rebels killed. Five gc. were captured. (Hearno and two men of the 12th regiment bad been killed by the Kaffirs. The 9t. Mary’s left at Capetown, loading for Bos ton, the American clippers Spriughook and Ocean Wave. Terrible Accident.—A shocking accident, at tended with a deplorable loss of life, occurred yesterday in Thirty-second street, between Third and Lexington avenues. A large brick building had been run up to the height of five stories, with out properly supporting the floors, when as a climax of folly, a quantity of heavy timber was hoisted to the uppermost fiat, and piled in a hen*-', so as to throw a great weight upon one of the temporary uprights which supported the girders. This tem porary upright gave way, and thus commenced the work oi destruction, which ended in the whole fabric tumbling down in a heap, burying in the ruins six ot the workmen employed on the build ing. Three of the unfortunate men were taken out of the heap dead, and three more horribly brused. The names of the killed are Joseph Weaver, the contractor for the frame work; John Dorsey, and George Doherty, brick masons.— A' Y. The promptness, fairness and liberality which have marked all the dealings of this Company, for a period of thirty years, and the well known character of its officers and directors, afford the surest guaranty that its affairs will be so managed as to afford to the assured, that ulti mate safety and security, which is of the first importance in Life Assurance. 'I'TTE now have for sal■ that celebrated remedy, MOR \ V TIMORE’S RHEUMATIC COMPOUND and BLOOD , PURIFIER, which has gained such great popularity when ever introduced, as the only specific kndwn for the ef fectual cure of this painful disease. This remedy has al ready cured thousands of cases, comprising every seeming form of this complaint, from the injlammnU,ry (acute) lorm, attended with swellinga'and enlargement of the joints, to old chronic cases of from ten to twenty and thirty years’standing. Those who had for years resorted to the various celebrated springs, had tried all the liniments and external applications, and been under treatment of some of the ablest physicians both in this country and Europe, and were pronounced incurable; still, after all these ef forts had failed, this compound has cured them. Many who have been cripples, either hobbling upon crutches or confined to their beds for years, certify to a complete and permanent cure by the use of this remedy. W T e have not space, in a newspaper advertiseme»t, to in sert but a small portion of the accumulated evidence in its behalf. This evidence comes from sources which must in spire confidence in every mind. The conductors of high toned public journals have published to the world its won derful and beneficial effects upon themselves and those around them, and in some instances speak of huto I reds of r cures. Physicians have resorted to it, and certify that, even in extreme cases, where consultations had been held, • and they had decided that there were no hopes of mw ery, even then, they procured this medicine and adminis i tered it, and it effected a complete cure. Ministers of va rious denominations have written and published what it i has done for themselves and their friends; while mer chants, officers, mechanics, and private citizens, have fur nished volumes es evidence of the highest character, such as accompanies no other preparation in America. We most respectfully ask those who are afflicted to send to the agent in their vicinity and get a circular, and read the letters and certificates of Rev. Jas. Mitchell, RtV. N. G. Berryman, Rev. J. 11. Linn, Rev. J. M. Kelly, Rev. K. A. Colburn, and other clergymen ; while we add the names of Hon. J. Smith, late President of the Bank of the State of Missouri; Geo. O. Atherton, officer in the Bank in St. Louis ; Messrs. Jas. H. Eddy, S. Downing, A. Holland, C. W'. Stone, J. W. Christy, Joseph Southack, with other prominent merchants of St. Louis, as also vast numbers of other citizens. This is home evidence, and these are living voitneeses, where this great remedy was first introduced, and where many thousands have been cured during the last two years. The proprietors hare now opened their Great Cen tral Office at No. 1 Barclay street, (Astor House,) in the city of New York, where all orders for this medicine wi.l be promptly attended to. This is a vegetable spirit—an internal remedy, pre pared and recommended for this one disease alone. This it will cure ! Price, f 5 per single bottle; or three bottles for SJO. W. V.
