X IMPROVED COTTON GINS. —The subscriber would
inJonn the Planters of Georgia and the ad jacent States,
that he continues to manufacture COTTON GINB of a supe
rior quality, at his factory three miles east of the city ol
Macon,on the Central Railroad. Having, within the last
year, enlarged his Factory and made great additions to his
machinery,and having the very best of workmen, he is now
prepared to supply the country with Gins unsurpassed (in
any respect) by any made in the United States. The sub
scriber would not speak disparagingly of any Gin Factory
in the State; yet he thinks it no presumption to say that
his Gins are more universally approved than those from
any factory. Every Gin sent from hia factory within the
last year has given entire satisfaction; he has not heard
the first complaint, but has been informed by many, tbs
his Gins are superior in every respect to any they have
seen in use; andin all probability,there is no other
sac ory in the Stato that has met with such success. He
attributes the fine performance of his Gina to the personal
attention which they receive from him in their construc
tion. Every Gin that leaves his factory, is closely inspect
ed by him during the time of its building and afterwards.
He has never desired, neither doeehe ever intend to, build
more Gins than he can properly see to himself. Therefore,
all those who purchase Gins of him, may with coniidenct
expect a good one, for he assures the public that no other
kind shallieave hisshop, an bis undivided attention wili in
future be given to the building of Gins.
As an evidence of their superior quality, he refers th«
public net only to his numerous patrons, bnl also to the
premium list of the last Agricultural Fair of the State ol
Georgia, where it will be seen he took the premium over all
his competitors, (some of whom were quite formidable.)
and injustice to them he would say they exhibited speci
mens of work hard to beat. And as still further evidence
of the character of his gins, ha would state that the Com
mittee appointed to award the premium after the exami
nation made by them, each purchased a gin from him be
fore they left the ground. And notwithstanding the late
ness of the season, his gins were so much liked by people
visiting the Fair, Chat he sold twenty during the week. He
is wellprepared to try all his gins before they leave the fac
tory ; but he deems it unnecessary from the fact that ail
his gins are made alike. He doe» not build a poor gin for
one man and a good one for another. But he will try all
gins when requested to do so.

Pittsbubo, April 29.—The Court this morning
overruled the motion for a new trial in the small
note conspiracy ctses, against Morris, Uazen, Law
son and Davie. Mr. Stokes that the law being
vindicated he would ask the mercy of the Court
tor the defendants. They were severally sentenced
to three months imprisonment and a fine of SIOO
each.
Independence, Mo., April 19.—A party, consist
ing of Dr. Conuely, Gov. Meriwether, Mrs. Smith,
a New Mexican missionary and a number of tra
ders have arrived here en route for St. Louis,
making the tripin 28 days. They bring no news
of interest from New Mexico. At Pironee Fork
the Indians were very troublesome, aud one of
them shot a man named Montague in the neck.
\ osk, April 80.—In the Supreme Court
yesterday afternoon, the case of Newall against the
New Haven Railroad for injuries sustained at the
Norwalk Catastrophe, the jury rendered a verdict
in favor of the plaintiff for'ss,6oo. It is stated that
the company had offered him S7OOO to settle.
Cincinnati, April 29.—The Ohio Legislature
passed yesterday a most strinvent liquor law, and
it requires only the signature of the Governor to
become a law.. It provides forthe punishment, by
line and imprisonment, of persons selling liquor
to parties already intoxicated, and also renders
them liable in civil suits for damages.
New Yobk, April 80.—A bouse was crushed by
a land slide on Furman street, Brooklyn, yester
day, occupied by Mrs. W. Colgan as a boarding-
Uouse. Her daughter, 17 years of age, was ki led,
William Cnrran was also killed, and seven others
badly injured.
Cincinnati, April 2S.—The Ohio Legislature
passed a bill to day prohibiting the circulation of
foreign email notes, within the State, of a less
denomination than $lO.
Cincinnati, April 29.—The weather here is cold
and cloudy, and the snow lies two inches deep on
the ground here, as well as sixty miles North and
West of us.
New \obk, April 80.—The building, No. 78
Pan' street, occupied by Turwald & Co., brush
makers, tcsrether with the adjoining building, an
oil store, *fcc., were totally destroyou last night.
Boston, April 29.—1 n the case of George P.
Sonthwick against the City of Boston, the jury to
day gave a verdict for plaintiff, finding damages to
the amount of $12,C00. Sonthwick fell into a cel
lar way on Congress square, breaking his back,
and brought suit against the city.
Washington, April 80.—It is confidently assert
ted here that Mr. Benton is determined to oppose
the appropriation for the Mexican treaty, and wiil
move for a Select Committee, with power to send
for persons and papers.
