THE MILY TIMES.
The city.
Bishop Andrews
This distinguished divine will conduct the ser
vices at the Methodist church Sabbath morning
10 1 2 o’clock.
Items.
Our reporter has returned to the Times office
after a fruitless search of an interesting local item
for our readers 1 He wa9 struck yesterday with
the appearance of business in Broad Street, and
thinks there was more country trade carried on
than during any previous day of the week. Not
withstanding the cloud of dust that looked like a
dense fog overhanging the city, our reporter made
his way through, and had the curiosity to count
the number of mules hitched to the wagons, and
reports the number, two hundred and fifty. Judge
reader, of the amount of trade from this estimate
of the mule population of our streets for the period
of one day ?
The new Methodist church is uow aboutthirty
four feet high, and the workmen are busy with
brick and mortar with a view of completing it in
a short time. Thursday night our reporter was
present at the singing of the Sabbath School
Scholars at the Methodist church, and thinks they
are making arrangements lor a grand picnic cele
tion at Camp Montgomery. The pic-nic he
heard was to come off about the middle of the
present month. The Sabbath School Scholars
of all the churches in the city and neighborhood
were to be invited, and no less a personage than
Hon. G, E. Thomas was to be the orator of the
day.
This is not all—a pupil from each of the Sab
bath Schools is also expected to make a speech
on the occasion. The hearts of the children are
full of joy in anticipation of the celebration, and
already they aro talking about their banners and
badges. The whole affair promises to be a pleas
ant one, and the reporter expects to be present to
hear the music, songs, speeches, &c.
New Advertisements.
We refer our readers to the card ol N. L.
Cloud of Bainbridge, in relation to the Southern
Bank of Georgia.

Mr. Lee proposes to open his High School for
Young Ladies on Monday next, in a house the on

capacity and qualifications, from gentlemen every

Association, in another column’
l>red Scott, who recently died, was
a very old negro and enjoyed perfect free
dom even after the famous decision. At
the great railroad celebration in St. Louis,
June, 1857, he was upon the fair grounds,
and an object of greator curiosity to most
people than any of the white lions in the
city, lie was quite proud of the “fuss” lie
had created in the United States, and enjoy
ed his notoriety mightily.
Saif- They tell a story about a man “out
West” who had a hair lip, upon which he
performed an operation himself, by inser
ting into the opening a piece of chicken
flesh—it adhered and filled up the space
admirably. This was well eijough until,
in compliance with the prevailing fashion,
he attempted to raise mustaches, when one
side grew hair and the other feathers.

FFEEDOM FROM FEVER AND AGUE.
TRIUMPHANT SU3OEBS!
THE
GRENADA ELIXIR,
OR
South American Antidote for Malaria!
Is a sure Cure and Perfect Route io Ague
and Fever, Chill and Fever, Dumb Ague,
and all JJiltous Affections !
IT has been thoroughly tested in thousands of
ease 9, some of years’ standing, where Quinine
and all the most popular remedies of the day had
failed, but the Elisir has met with the ra (ri
umphsnt success; never failed (o cure the most
oh-tinafe cases. The unanimous testimony of all
who have used or witnessed its operations, declare
it to be the most e'traordinary medicine ever dis
covered for the quick and permanent cure of Fe*
ver and Ague. It operates as a genile Tonic and
stimulant, gradually hut surely ; eradicate- every
vestige of disease, and restores the system to health
and vigor. It imparts new vitality to the blood,
and vvil soon induce the glow of health to return
to the pale and swarthy complexion.
The advantage of this medicine therefore is, that
a cure mmt be radical and complete ; not simply
breaking the Chill, by producing a “new imprest- |
smn” upon the nervous system, without reference !
to the operations of the malarious poison, which
is allowed io remain unchanged and renew its at
tacks, immediately alter the nervous system has
ceased to led the artificial disease—induced by
Quinine and many other preparations generally
resorted to. The GRENADA ELIXIR acts di
rectly upon the Liver, Stomach, Kidneys, Pores
of ‘he Skin, and produces a radical cure.
It contains no ingredient the least injurious tn
•he system, and can be given to an intant with
perfect safety. It is warranted to cure every case
when taken as directed.
All who need sueh a medicine, will do well to
try the Grenada Elixir I; is not only the best but
trie must economical medicine ever introduced for
rever and Ague and is a Southern Remedy.
