BANK OF AUGUSTA,)
12th Nov. 1827. f
C OUNTERFEITS of the Bills of 10 Dollars,
issued by this Bank from the year 1817,
being in circulation, it is thought proper to ap
prise the Public of the circumstance, and to state
some of the distinctive marks. The paper is
darker than that of the genuine bills, and has
an oily appearance-. On inspection it will
be perceived that the signatures are iu the
counterfeits 'engraven and then covered with ink.
The upper front window or door of the More
house is square in the counterfeit bill, but oblong
in the genuine. Attention to these particulars,
will lead to the detection of such spurious bills as
may be offered. Measures will soon be taken for
withdrawing from circulation, the notes which
have been thus counterfeited.
