B The usual exchange to Editors who ad vertise. PROPOSALS For publishing in the City of Washing ton. by E. S. DAVIS, Os Souih Carolina, a iri weekly Paper, called THE EXAMINER. 7 he Editor is fully sensible of the difficulty responsibility, which at all times present them solve, in au undertaking of this liitid; and more particularly since the introduction of a new po litical hersey. The Editor is, moreover, aware of the turmoil and perplexity of the vocation he is about to as sume; but he fells as every patriot should feel, w hen be perceives the approaching danger of a dissolution of the Union, an 1 the destruction of the free institutions of this great Republic, that it is his duty to vindicate and sustain the rights of the people, and expose to public gaz*» the in trigues and duplicity of selfish and designing men. The Editor will support the present adminis tration. He is personally sis politically the friend o* the Chief Magistrate. He believes i;o man,ex cept Gen. Washington, ever possessed io so great a degree the confidence of the American People; and surely no man ever better deserved it. The eminent difficulty, at this time,to ascertain the political tenets of certain aspirants, in rela tion to many great national questions, renders it necessary that the Editor should here remaik* (hat he holds the doctrines of the late Proclam ation of the President of the United States to be strictly orthodox, and such as were entertained and inculcated by the immortal Washington. On these doctrines will depend the Future destiny of. this great Confederacy. The Examiner will be open to a full, fearless, butde<x>rous discussion of all matters relating to the affairs of the nation, the public conduct of public men, and the exposition of every mal practice in office. On the question of the Bank the Editor has re flected much; and as he is not indebted to that institution for forf&s, or any other fator, he will be pardoned when he states that it is his opinion the fiscal relations of tbe Government and Coun try requires a Bank of some sort; but wf/ether the present be the best, or whether it should b& mo dified, will be the subject' of fU’ure discussLw. As regards the question of domestic industry, the Editor can with much sincerity declare, that he believes nothing tends more to improve, adorn and entich, the country, than the laudable ex ertions of our manufacturers. i The skill, the capital,-and untiring enterprise which are now eiirpToyed in tbe elaboration of the various productions of the soil, will, at no very distant period, make us one of the most flourishing and independent nations on earth. Nature appears to have bestowed upon us what she has refused to every other people; a country embracing all the variety of climate aud soil, and yrelding all the various productions of the earth, necess'ary to the comfort of man. lothe People of the District of Columbia, and particularly to those of this City, the Editor would beg leave to remark, that he feels a lively interest in every thing which relates to the fu ture prosperity of the place, surveyed and loca ted uirder the immediate and special aupices of the gieet Washington. The EXAsftNER will be published three times weekly, at five dollars per annum, and the fir»i number will be issued on the fourth day of July Mi >y >7 ... 69 ts Georgia, Richmond County...
