Augusta in wagons, or carts for sale by weight
Sec. Ist. Be it ordained by the City Council
of Augusta, That all Fodder, Hay and Oats
brought to this city in wagons or carts for sale,
shall be weighed at the scales prepared for that
purpose near the lower market
* Sec. 2d. Be it further ordained, That it shall
be the duty of the clerk of the lower market tc
Superintend the weighing efall Fodder, Hay and
Oats, at all hours of the. davd from sun rise till
Bun set. And tha party selling Such Fodder,
Hay or Oats, shad pay to the said clerk fitty cts
or each wagon, and twenty-five cents for each
cart or dray.
Sec. 3d- Be it further ordained, 1 hat every
person who shall violate the provisions of tin..
Ordinance, may be fined in a sum not exceeding
Twenty Dollars.
Done in Council the 6th day of Dec. 1832.

500 Dollars Reward.
, t HEREAS, on r the Night of tha 17lb. or
tl Morning of th' 18th May, the STORE
HOUSE of Mr. Elijah Bu'ts at Sandy Run,
Houston County, Geoigia, was discovered to be
on Fire, and with iis contents (a valuable stock
of Merchandize) entirely destroyed. And there
is reason to supect that the said destruction of
property was the act of an incendiary, “ two
persons having been seen to pass through a small
field going in a direction from the Store when
it was burning ”
Now, in order to b> ing to condign punishment,
the person or nersons guilty of this nefarious
act, the Charleston Fire and Marine Insurance

plain statement of facts. Good Titles to
prize holders, were not published by the
superintendants, till the Bih day of las?
September, (the time the Lotierry truly
came before the Public) to be drawn th&
24th day of December thereafter. It
was then postponed till the 2d day of this
month, and from casualties could not be
drawn. The proprietor in the first time
given, from the situation of his family,
could not leave Thomaston to sell Tick
ets till the sth day of Dec. in the last
time from the dudes of office, could not
leavetill after the 2d Monday in January
Therefore be has not had time to sell as
many of the Tickets as be wishes. He
will make nd apology —but still state fact’
He owes the amount of the Lotterrv and
rom the possitiori of some of his credition
he is compelled to ake the un
sold Tickets, To the others he returns
many thanks, and could he bestow cash
as easy as thanks he would have all paid
It is to be hoped that this indulgence will
be allowed by a generous public. He
has placed the drawing when the Tickets
are sold, or mest certainly the first of
next January. It is the last notice he
shall make, unless he draws, before that
time. The drawing shall be final.
It is due to those who have bought
Tickets to be informed that ihe money is
in the hands of respectable Agents, and
in the hands of the Treasmer of the Su
perintepdants. Who will return it to
purchasers, should the Lotteiy, by any
unforeseen circumstance, not he drawn, ’
