J>TO regulate the weighing of Fodder, Hay
and Oats in bundles brought to the city of
Augusta in wagons,or caits for sale by weight.
Sec Ist. Be it ordained by the City Council
of Augusta, That all Fodder, Hay and Oats
brought to this city ir. wagons or carts for sale,
shall be weighed at the scales prepared fur that
purpose near the lower market.
Sec. 2d. Be it further That it shall
he the duty of the clerk of the lower market to
enberintend the weighing efall Fodder, Hay and
Oats, at all hours of thedav, from sun rise- till
sun set. And tha party selling sdeh Fodder,
Hay or Oats, shall pay to the said clerk fitly cts
or each wagon, and twenty-five cents for each
.cart or dray.
Sec. 3d- Be it further ordained, That every
person. shall violate the provisions of this
Ordinance, may be fined in a sum not exceeding
Twenty Dollars.

WHEREAS, onFthe Night of tha 17th, or
Morning of the 18th May, the STORE
HOUSE of Mr. Elijah Butts at Sandy Run,
Houston County, Geoigia, was discovered to be
on Fire, and with ils contents (a valuable stock
of Merchandize) entirely destroyed. And there
is reason to supect that the said destruction of
property was the act of at) incendiary, “ two
persons having been seen topass through a small
field going in a direction from the Store when
it was burning.”
Now, in order to bring to condign punishment,
the person or persons guilty of this nefarious
act, the Charleston Fire and Marine. Insurance
Company Hereby offer a reward of Five Hund
red Dollars, to any person, who will, witbin six
months from the date hereof, discover and prose
cute to conviction the person or persons guilty
of the said act of arson; and any priv lie infor
mation that may lead to the discovery end con
viction of the perpetrators thereof will be hand
somely rewarded.
