Horses'cannot attend both Turfs; and yet be al
lowed sufficient resting time—the Augusta Races
are also postponed to the third, instead of the
second Monday in March next.

gentlemen of the first characterjtnd. responsibi
lity, inform the public that the Maces under
their Management, will commence, on the Turf
in thi t g vicinity, bn the THIRD MONDAY
of MARCH next, The Purses of the differ
ent days are now highly respectable and worthy
of the attention of gentlemen raising fine Horses,
and drill be increased by additional subscribers.

THIS Ekercises of this Institution will be re
sumed under the superintendence ®f the
subscriber, on the first MONDAY in January
next. The Proprietors es this Institution, im
pressed with the belief that there is no place in
the Southern country, which combines more
advantages for a permanent School, are resolv
ed to neglect no means to render it in the high*
est degree useful, and worthy of publie confi
dence and patronage. With this view, they
have determined at much expense, to alter and
ifoproye the buildings in such a manner, as to
afford every accommodation both to the Teach
ers and Pupils. To those who are acquainted
with the location, it i« unnecessary to say, that
the Climate is as pure as in any section of the
Southern country. The health of lhe place is
proverbial. So far as the advantages of good
society inay be considered as giving it a claim to
public encouragement, it is believe It here is no
Seminary, which, in this respect, stands upon
higher ground. Believing it to be of the highest
importance to the pupil, both as respects bis
moral deportment and literary ad vancement
thatjhe should be as much as possible under the
immediate tuition of the Teachers, arrange]
ments have been made, at no small expense, by
the subscriber, to accommodate with board in
his own family, those pupils whose parents and
guardians may wish to avail themselves of thoM
advantages. By this arrangement, the Teach
ers will be able to devote their whole time, both
in and out of School, to the instruction of their
pupils. In addition to the branches usually
taught in English and Classic Schools, the scho
lar may be qualified, if desired, to commence
with advantage the study of any of the learned
professions. Having been many years engaged
as a Teacher, in the State, and his peculiar mode
of teaching, having proved eminently success
ful, the subscriber deems it unnecessary to make
any remarks with regard to his claims to public
confidence. Upon this point he would not only
refer to those who have patronized the Institu*
tuition since under his superintendence, hot also
toothers, to whom he has been formerlv koowa
as a teacher.
