examples of their predecessors, in liberal 1 prom

after to depend, rather upon the chifdteter which
it shall be able to acquire, than upn extraordi

Philadelphia; and no exertions wil be left un
employed to render the work honorable to
American Periodical Literature, tnd accepta

far solicited as it shall seem to be deserved. ’
The original papers—which it is designed
shall be so varied, as to form a combiiation of the

In addition to the original papers, liberal

as may be necessary to add interest, or to
evince the justice of the accompanying criticism
A Monthly Compendium will alio be given,
comprising, in a succinct form, til events of
importance which may have occurred dhring
the month, with such remarks, oi illustrative
comments, as they may demand. The general
