city provontlng cattle from tunulug nt largo, nnd
Mr. Patrick Dolan, and a youth named Jno. Mur
phy, wore charged with interfering with officers iu
the discharge of their duly. It npponrod that tho
two officers had taksn ohargo of certain oows, which
were postured In a remote part of tho city, in ohnrgo
of llnrpor nnd soiuo other hoys, in order to plnce
them In pound. Tho hoy Harper objected to this
proceeding uud rode hi* horso through tho drovo,
scattering tho nuhnats, nnd thus frustrating tho at
tempts of tho officers. Mr. Dolnn'n coanoellun with
tho matter was merely advisory, ho having told
Harper to gut his cows, hut. soolng that tho police
men woro unwilling to givo them up, ho counselled
Harper to go to tho guardhouse with tho pollcoinou
and make his complaint to the Mayor. Tho potico

Honor decided that tho charge was not lustalnod
ngn lust eithor, und that the spirit of tho ordinance
was not violated in fact, it being, in evidence, that
tho cattle were pastured in a place remote from any

A. Williams was placed upon tho Information
Docket tor koopitig a disorderly house. The de
fendant was a foreigner, and statod in his defence
that tho only disorder in his establishment was an
occasional drunk among some women, nnd tho in
cidental noises connoclod with druuken womon-

liams booked for $3 and costs.
Henry Fields (colored) was up for selling un
wholesome meat in tho market. He is tho ownor o f
tho stall, nn&ipua the oocusiou referred to his
clerk sold some meat which tho Clerk of tho Murkot
testified was uot fit to bo sold. Henry’s explana
tion was to tho effect that tho eattlo had hcon
brought down on tho Railroad nnd wore bruised, but
that they were properly killed and bled. Tho con
trary, however, appeared from tho evidence, nnd ho
was fined $10 and costs.
A. J. Bobbins, charged with boiug tlrnnk, disor
derly, and striking witness, made a very In mo tlo-
fcncc, and as it was uridont to His Honor that bo
was stiff under tho intiuonce of liquor, ho ordered
him to bo sunt to the Barracks, nnd continued tho
coso until this morning.
A LamUson, drunk nud lying in tho streot, con
fessed his fault anil had mercy extended—$2 and
costs.

charged by hid old mother with vagrancy. Sho said
ho would not work, hut was always about when eat
ing timo camo; that ho abused his sisters and did
other things that a good boy ought not to do. His
mother asked His Honor to put him to work till his
father cauio homo, which ho did by sending him to
labor nt the Barracks for ton days.
S. Bing (colored), for Improper oonduotj in the
Market, was fined $3 nnd costs, or ten days’ labor n l
the Barracks.
J. Lundy (colored), charged with forestalling.
The fact was clearly established, nnd ho wns fined
$10 and costs.
