Omo and Gkurgia.— The people of
Cincinnati are quite impressed with the
importance of a railroad from their city
to Chattanooga to connect with the sys
tems of roads which it will intersect
there. They propose to build a straight
line—or ns straight a line as the coun
try will admit of. The scheme is ex
citing no little interest in Chattanooga.
—The Corinth (Mississippi) Enquirer
is endeavoring to resuscitate the old
project of building a railroad from that
place to Hamburg, on the Tennessee
river. This road, through its whole
length (twenty-six miles, we believe),
would run through a battle field, or
rather through a succession of battle
fields and skirmish grounds, begiimiug
at Corinth and terminating at or near
the world-renowned field of Shiloh.
—lt is stated that Maximilian is
omitted from the number of Catholic
sovereigns to whom the Pope sends his
customary Christmas felicitations.
