A glory nbont Moving.

Many of the older inhabitants of Elliot, Me., will
recollect • rather ecceutric genius who formerly
rr-ided in that town, named Jqthain K., than whom
« keener wit was nowhere to Wfound.^
Jothani had a slater who mflrried a farmer ubout
removing some fifty miles down east, end her mar
riage portion given her by her father, which con
sisted of several beds, bedsteuds, chairs, tables, Ac.,
were to be removed to her ftituro residence.
In thosodays there was no inole of conveyance
by steam, and they had, of course, to I OBVeyed
by oxen. The utensils were therefore made ready,
six of the best and strongest oxen in the town were
selected to draw them, and Jothani and another
younjfsnaa to take charge of the oxen.
It was the hot sultry season of August, an I they i
were obliged to travel very slowly, which was rethen
vexatious to Jothani, who was impatient
journey's end.

H ISTORY—The history of theje plasters would
occupy more apace than can be spared in these
limit*. Suffice it to aay, that the most eminent chem
ists aud physiciaus of tho United States and of Europe

for public use. They are made porous, so that the eva
poration of the perspiration can goou sufficiently where
the plaster ia applied, without, a* with other planters,
causing the accumulation of acrid fluid, which corodes
the skin aud occasions mauy unpleasant sensations, not
neoossary for the cure or alleviation of affections for
which a plaster is usually applied.
They are tonio and carminative, which renders them
of peculiar value iu many affections of the chest aud
bowels, more especially when a nervous character;
they in fact warm, and to a certain extent, vitalise the
part upou which they are applied.
These etrengthening. warming, aud pain-relieving
ilasters, w ill be found Invaluable in weakness of the
iack, chronic rheumatism, and contractions of the mus
cles; neuralgia, local nervous affeutious; in asthma,
*- pains iu the side or^liost, especially when proceed-
from dyspepsia or weakue**, or a sense of coldness

tions of the kidneys; in cues of sprains, strains, or
