Plats of the lots may be seen at the countiug house of C. A. L. Lamar, Eaq. tsr VVa were shown yeaterduy morning in the market, four wild turkeys, each weighing eighteen pounds. They were purchased by E. Menpal, caterer for “Our House,” at $3 each. Daring Hobbery. One of the boldest robberies ever perpetrat ed iu this city took place yesterday at Mr. James M. Jones' watch and jewelry store, on St. Julian street, near the Marker. A few minutes after one o'clock in tho afternoon, Mr. Jones locked the doors of hi* store, aud went to the Post-Office. He thinks he had not beeu absent more than twelvs minutes, when he re turned, and found (lie key of the inner door, which had beeu left in the lock, lying upon the floor, and the door unlocked. He soon discov ered that a robbery bad been committed, and upon examination Tound that his drawer had bven opened and $50 in money abstracted, aud five auperior gold watches, and several other articles taken. The robbery must have been committed with great dispatch, for a large num ber of other valuable articles were within reach of tbs tbiai, but were not taken. Tha suppo sition is that the key in the door was removed by a pair of pincers, and pushed out of the lock, when the door wua unlocked with a fal*c key. Mr. Jones estimates his loss at about $500. Whet makes this loss peculiarly hard upon Mr. Jones, ia the fact that he waa robbed on ttkw 17th <>l last August, when watches and jewelry to tha value of upwards of $800 were stolen. There can be hardly any doubt that this robbery was committed by some one well acquainted with tha premises, und that Mr. Jonk**'movements hud beou watched by .i LtavlX robbciv mm The Temperance Meeting at Armory Hnll last night. The weekly mooting of the Savannah Total i’lie selection of Gen. Cushing as Secretary of State, gives general satisfaction. The Californians will still insist upon a ropirasntation of their Slate iu the Cabinet, and uinung the names presented is that of Mi. J. F.. Holmes, as a fit apnointmeut for tho Navy Department. The lohuaulepec reso lutions have teceived a fresh impulse from the character of the opposition to them. They will probably be adopted, and will liuve the effect to settle tho question in favor of tho government and citi/.ena of the United States. Mexico will hardly resist tho declarations of tho Senufe, nor delay an adjustment of the question till the United Stales he compelled to resort to force. The proposition of Mr. Henry O’Reilly, for line of telegraph from St. Louts to San Francisco, is before Congress, and, if it bo ac cepted, it will remedy, to a great extent, the inconveniences which will ho suflbred by the delay ol the Pacific Railroad. Mr. O’lleilly'n plan is for the government to establish a chain of stockades from St. Louis to the Pacific, twenty miles apart, and protected by U. S. dragoons. The soldier* will convey the mail, and protect emigrant train*. A line of telegraph is lo he constructed on this route by Mr. O’Reilly, without any compensation from the government, either in land lor money. This project con be completed in a twelvemonth. Yours, &c. Ion. or The New Coinage und Seigniorage Rill, which had previously passed the Senate, olso passed the House of Representatives on Tues day. All the amendments which had been proposed to it in the House finally failed. It* principal provislone are therefore aa follows: To reduce the silver half dollar from iiOfij grains lo 192 grains, and a like reduction o* the quarter dollar, dimo and half dime, the re. duction being G 91-100. A clturge of j of 1 per cent, aa n seigniorage, for coinage of sil- deposited at the mint. To tho alteration of the weight of the eilver coin there seemed to ho no essential opposition—but to the suigni- oruge part, a good deal ofopposition waa man- ifeated, though it ia claimed that the seigni orage ia barely sufficient to meet tho expense. The bill ia a very important one, muking in efibet gold the standard of vuluo, and silver subservient to it. This is done without its re ally fixing a new relative value between gold and silver, but by sec'.Jug, through a reduc tion in the actual value of silver coin, as ex pressed on its face, to render it no longer u more desirable export thun gold. Under the operation of the law, while the value of the present silver coin is not touched, it is pre sumed it will soon disappear to be rc-produced in the new coinage of less value. Abstinence Society held at thoir Hall last eve- ni«g, was one ol the largest assemblies we have ever aeen collected for the discussion of thi* subject in this city. The uudiunce was a highly respectable one, and embraced men bolding the most opposite views on tho sub ject of legal enactments for the prohibition of the sale of intoxicating liquor as o beverage. Tbe utinojt decorum prevailed throughout, and the arrangements for prohibition by legal enactment, maintainted by Messrs. Duryke and Kino, and those for the abolition of all laws restricting tho sale, ware listened to with evidentsatit faction by the meeting. Tbit sub ject is evidently assuming a degree of impor tance in ourcommuuity, which few were dispos- * ed to attach to it a short time ago, and is attract ing the consideration of those among whose legislative duly it will shortly be to investigate the subject; as well as thoxo whose interests . r are likely to be affected by legislative action upon it. 1 The Strike tn Baltimore* Resolution* were adopted by the working men on the strike in Baltimore, ou Tuesday morning that the eight hundred men from the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad shops go to vverk at the advanced rntea offered by the Company, and that each man pledge himself to pay 25 per cent, of his aulury imo the funds of the essooiation, to be appropriated to the support of those who may be compelled to continue on the strike; aud that the workmen in all tbe other shop* that agree to pay tho ud- vance also go to work on similar conditions By tho adoption of their resolution some 1600 men were permitted to resume their work _ in tbe chops that had conceded the advance in the Washington Navy Yard held a meeting on Tuesday, and resolved to eustaiu the Baltimore workmen.
