And makes ray heart respond with pride To what mine eye admiretn. And thus, unto our mutual loss, Whene’er I paced the aloplng rnoas Of green Kflliney, or across The intervening waters- Up Howih’e brown sldoi ray foet would wend To soe thy sinuous bosom bend. Or view thiue outstretch’d arms extend To clasp thine islet daughters; Dry Goods, Clothing, As- Blept underneath, tho green waves, i The tide-worn rocke’ recesses; Or w hen they woke, aud leapt from Ian Like startled sea nymphs, baud in ham Seeking the southern silver strand With floating emerald tresses. It lay o’or all, a moral mist, Even on the hills, when evening kist Tho granite peaks to amethyst, 1 felt its fatal shadow ; It darkened o’er the brightest rills, It lower'd npon the sunniest hills, And hid the winged songs that tills The moorland and tlio meadow. But now that I have been to view » Nature’s self oon do, And feel shy winning well-known grace, Without my old misgiving; And as 1 kneel upon thv strand, And kiss thy once unvalued hand, Proclaim earth holds no lovelier land, Where life ia Worth the living. THE MEDICATED INDIA RUBBER PLASTER Of tho Nineteenth Century* TTISTOUY—The history of the^e plasters would II occupy more space than can be spared iu those limits. But it was left to Mr. Allcock, whofor seven years had tho entire charge of Messrs. Rushton's Astor House store, to perfeotthom for public use. They are mado porous, so that the eva poration of tho perspiration can go ou sufficiently where the plaster is applied, without, as with other plasters, causing the accumulation of acrid fluid, which oorodes the skin aud occasions many unploasant sensations, not necessary for the cure or alleviation of affections for whioh a plaster is usually applied.
