Oar fAgloiou* neighbor of the /lepublican
hu discovered nnnllicr “ uinre’s iiesl” in the
shape of • new* ilerti in the leaded columns of
the Morning News. The editor no doubt, of
ten find* netci in our paper, which had eacoped
hie »cie*or*, and having discovered the tele
graphic source in Uiis case, make* a merit of
his HMgnrity. if we were in odvanco ol our
cotamporary in giving to tho world tho item ol
the California duel, he might congratulate hiln*
aelfon having given to the public the important
intelligence on Monday laat, (no other paper had
the news) that the Danube provinces had taken
it upou themselves to iutorforo in the difficulty
between England and South Carolina, ubout
the imprisonment of negro sailors!! also that
l*e«lie was on his way to England!! i (Who
is Leslie 7)
Such a telegraphic triumph aa that should
have satisfied his ambition fur a week at least.
Hut the editor shows conclusively that we
got our paragraph from a telegraphic dispatcli
in tha Uultimoro Sun. We acknowledge the
fact. It was taken from a dispatch in that ex
cellent paper, and might havo been taken
from almost any other of our northern ex
changes. It was precisely in the shape
wantod it, and could nut havo been more to
our likiug if wo hod written it ourself. We
desired to give it a prominent position , and
therefore placed it among the leaded items,
omitting, of course, a credit to tho magnetic
telegraph, which was not essential to an un
derstanding of the facts. Such is nur prac
tice, as it is of nearly every respectable news
paper in the country.
Hut enough in regard to a matter which we
have sufficiently explained before, and which,
among editors, needs no justification.
Thu secret of the inattor is, eversinco early
in thw “Spring,” our cotomporary’e “epi
dermis” has been extremoly sensitive, so much
so, that he has a morbid antipathy to leaded
pq^agr&ph*. It lias been suggested to us that
lie ia affiicted with what is known as tho
*♦ Scotch fiddles,” which accounts for his over
weaning fastidiousness on this subject. We
are, therefore, disposed to make some allow*
once forliissqueamiahness. We would suggest
to him, however, to confine his attention to
tho Republican, ami to leave his cotemporariea
to tho exercise of their discretion aud judg
ment in the editorial management and ar
rangement of their columns. Hy so doing,
while he will be secure from the encroach
ments of the plagiarist, he will avoid making
himself ridiculous In tho eyea ol tho fraterni
ty to which ho belongs.

reputation which it enjoys. While many inferior rem

discarded, this has gained friends by every trial, oou-
ferrod benefits on the affiicted they oau uever forget,
and produced cures too numerous and too remarkable *
to be forgotten.
While it ia a fraud on thF public to pretend that any
ie medioine will infallibly cure—still there is abundant
proof that the Cherry Peolpral does not only nsa gener

whluh It is employed.
As time makes these faote wider and better known,
this medicine has gradually bcoome the best relianos of

as the best remedy extant tor diseases of tho Throat
and Lungs, and in many foreign countries, it is coming
